I know you can work upto 16hours a week in full time, perminant employment and still claim.
But what happens if you've been offered a 3day one off job that exceeds the 16hours?
Is it claim closes and then next week I have to reclaim?

I don't know.
I know if you work less than 16 temp you fill in one form.

Thing is due to SAAS and SLc being cockends I haven't been paid yet by JSA.

It's my "seasonal" company and usually by end of May June I am full time anyway, but since I am freelance thing's can't be garuanteed before hand.

Good luck - my dealings with the job centre left me under no illusions as to how many bureaucratic cockwads that are employed there (I would say 'work' but that would be a lie).

Be careful about working and claiming JSA you could get royally screwed over. From what i've seen trying to get work, even just a few random days or a couple of hours a week could leave you worse off. I know it's a bad thing to say but you may be better off not working until you find a full time job. The government just don't make it easy/fair to work and receive JSA but they happily hand out benefits to people who have no intentions of working.

As a former civil servant I can tell you it's a pain in the ass of a job. They're hamstrung by political bull**** that gets handed down from the powers that be & aren't able to act with reason & sense at times due to bureaucratic red tape. So please, don't tar everyone with the same brush with such a condescending & ill-informed statement.

But yes, there will be cockwads that work there, same in every company. :D

Oh and to the OP. Unless the rules have changed, you'll need to sign-off & then sign-on again if you work over the 16 hours. But if you're unsure just ask any of the `cockwads` at the JC.

I have many dealings with the idiots in the job centre, you can go over your 16 hours, you just write it in the box provided,if its on the day the day your supposed to sign on just ring them, some people are led to believe that you can work up to 16 hours and still claim your full JSA which is not the case.

sign off and you can do a fast re-claim, ive done it before with short contract jobs, its no problem. speak to your job centre with all the start/end/pay/hours details.

Years ago I remember someone working at the job center telling someone not to bother letting them know if its just a few days as it just wasn't worth all the paperwork.

Technically it wasn't the right thing to do, but you, they and the person asking knew this.

This.

I'm currently out of work myself, and it really isn't worth it until you find something full time - even the woman at the job centre told me that. She's the only person I've ever dealt with there that I genuinely like.

Well the Job Centre is supposed to be clamping down now, which funnily enough has made them even less than useless for the past 3 months, after 4 weeks without having to attend (due to the way bank holidays fell) we went in yesterday and got someone who actually gave honest answers. Unfortunately those answers were mostly that our proper advisor next time would be able to answer them but at least she didn't say she'd do something about it and never did.

End of the day you've gotta decide whether its worth telling them at all. Nobody is going to find out about 3 days work unless you do something stupid like putting it on your CV and getting the job centre to check it through a week later...
