Workmate has dropped dead

42, 3rd Dan karate, goes running four times a week, has 4 pints on a saturday and he just drops dead. Don't know the details yet but what a tragedyy. Just shows that when your time is up - its up.
We had similar cases several years ago - one workmate found his 21 yr old son dead in bed and there was nothing suspicious.
Another workmate watched her 18 yr old daughter step into the bath, keel over and die.
Life can be cruel.

How many people work at your workplace? Three premature deaths without cause seems a lot.

RIP too all those people u mentioned :(

If i was in your situation i would get out of my job quick. Something doesn't look right tbh
 
Sadly, on two occassions I have know people just drop dead.

The first was a very good friend (1st dan in Karate rather strangely), I trained with him for years and then we used to go to the gym at least three times a week. He got into bed one night and just stopped breathing. Left behind a wife and three young daughters, he was 38.

The second case was an old school friend I hadn't seen for a number of years. He was a very keen rower, in fact we were both in the rowing team and rugby team at school. He rowed for Gloucester and had been at Henley one year. His race finished and he rushed back home to take his wife shopping. He collapased and died in the middle of a department store, stone cold dead, just like that. He had been married just three months.

In both cases there was no warning, both were very fit and both just died instantly. So, it does seem when your time is up you've had it. :(
 
This is why I don't do exercise!

In all seriousness, that is rather sad though :( I'd like to think that if I were to die suddenly, my loved ones wouldn't spend the rest of their lives wondering how or why.

RIP here too.

Seems all the people mentioned so far were perfectly fit, I guess they must all of had something intrinsicly wrong with them, like heart defects etc. which remain undetected until it's too late. :(
 
Thats quite sad, but also quite strange, bearing in mind these people were quite fit and healthy. Possible that there might have been some hereditary problems that skipped/were dormant in the generation before them? :confused:
 
It is worrying the amount of people who do exercise die.

Does anyone remember the incident a few years ago when a footballer dropped dead.

It makes me want to exercise even less.

Marc Vivien Foe I think his name was. Very sad. He just dropped on the pitch. The same happened to a basketball player a good few years back.

I wouldnt go as far as saying training = death. You got to bear in mind "how" you train. Anyone can go into a gym and run for ages on a treadmill, but if youre not doing any other training to supplement/compliment this training and at the same time not getting the correct amount of rest then you're doing things wrong.

Also bear in mind that a lot of people do also follow routines that have been developed and used/recommended by athletes/movie stars etc. Everyones genetics are different and I would have thought that what might be good for some people may well be fatal/damaging for someone else, in the long run that is.
