That'd be the ideal outcome but the rules are the rules.

I partially agree (like penalty tries in rugby), but that would take away the exitement of the penalty, and the chance that justice would not be served.

I personally thought the Kewell sending off was harsh, as his hands were by his sides and he couldn't really have gotten out of the way in time. Not that I'm bothered.

Anyway got £10 on 1-1 in this game, so fingers crossed it remains this way (though I can't see it).

In fact, a quick check of the rules shows that if it wasn't deliberate it's not a penalty in the first place.

Rules can be changed- except when it comes to FIFA. As Jokester points out the handball needs to be deliberate but it's widely accepted that a handball on the line is a pen.
