World Cup 2010 - Quarter-finals **spoilers**

Theres a thread for all England talk. They aren't in the tournament any more, no point bringing them up now.

Feels kinda weird not having any football on today. I always hate it when the tournament starts to thin out and less and less games are played.

Anyway, my picks are... Germany (duh), Brazil, Uruguay, Spain.

Germany vs Spain
Brazil vs Uraguay

Brazil vs Germany in the final

I'm looking forward to the games, your right it's strange not having any games today.

I'm not really too interested in transfer talk either, I've still got World Cup fever.

Im going for Brazil, Argentina, Spain and Uruguay in the semi's...as long as the Brazilian, Argies and Spanish get there ill be happy...definitely wanting with an Argie/Brazil final though...that would be awesome really.

I agree with those predictions. Just have to hope the Argentinian keeper can make up for any holes in the defence. He's looked pretty handy so far, so I reckon they'll be OK. It'll definitely be a good game against the Germans.

One of the funny things so far in this world cup for me is related to Football Manager 2010.

One of my criticisms of the game as a series has always been that while its club results are often reasonably accurate , its international results always seem to be way out of whack (at least in my games). At the start of this year I played some Fm2010 and Paraguay won the 2010 world cup in the game, prompting me to point out to a work colleague how out of whack the international results were.

Yet now there are Paraguay in the quarters ! So who knows ! Maybe with a couple of freak results FM2010 might turn out to have been right all along !

Paraguay v Ghana...now that would be a freaky final :D

Brazil 3 - 1 Netherlands

I cant see Brazil having too many problems with them, but its bound to be a cracking game.

A good game? Have people not watched either team this cup? Defensive, cautious Brazil versus boring, "efficient" Netherlands. It's got dull written all over it.

/hopes this jinxes it

I called it 2 - 1 to Brazil on my World Cup Predictor game I'm playing with my mates, but they are all caning me, so I'll be wrong again...

I hope it's a dull stinker cos I'm working.

I can see The Netherlands hurting Brazil on the break personally, counter attacking master class. Would love to see them do the 'zilians over. :)

I'm struggling to call a winner in this match as neither team have had a tough match in this tournament so far, Brazil are massive favourites but I'm not convinced.

Netherlands v Brazil teams:

Netherlands: 1-Maarten Stekelenburg; 2-Gregory van der Wiel, 3-John Heitinga, 4-Joris Mathijsen, 5-Giovanni van Bronckhorst; 7-Dirk Kuyt, 6-Mark van Bommel, 10-Wesley Sneijder, 8-Nigel de Jong, 11-Arjen Robben; 9-Robin van Persie.

Brazil: 1-Julio Cesar; 2-Maicon, 3-Lucio, 4-Juan, 6-Michel Bastos, 5-Felipe Melo, 8-Gilberto Silva, 13-Dani Alves, 10-Kaka, 11-Robinho, 9-Luis Fabiano.

Referee: Yuichi Nishimura (Japan).

Have a feeling that it'll be a pretty cagey affair, low scoring and decided on some brilliant counter attacks.
