World Cup Group E (Czech Rep, Ghana, Italy, USA) **SPOILERS**

He just seems to under-achieve for the national team. He's great at club level.
A bit like quite a few players. Two that come to mind in that regard are Gerrard & Goofy.

Hmmm well the way i see it is that Gerrard seems to do well at national level..he does have 2 goals to his credit does he not??. Goofy, i would imagine your talking about Ronaldinho??, not really a goal scorer is he??...more of a playmaker imho so i dont really see him being up there with a high total of goals...plus out of all the brazilian group games, i havent really see Ronaldinho have a decent shot at goal if anything. Whereas Totti??, hes had more than a few good chances handed to him and yet he seems to screw them up completely.

I feel kinda sad for the Czechs, they were a good team on paper but that loss against those damn Ghanians cost them in the end:(. Was good to see Baros playing a bit, he did try but sadly couldnt make much of an impact on the match. Rosicky didnt really make much of an impact in todays game...if anything Lassie aka Nedved did a superb job of trying to get the czechs back in it but hes not a one man wrecking machine. They played well....extremely well for a team that was 10 men down...really took it to the italians and could have sneaked a draw if lady luck was on their side.

Camoranesi!

id rupture his cruciate ligaments for having hair like that...

what a ***
Calm down.
Thats a serious, and very painful, injury you'd be giving him there.
He's a talented player, he just doesnt have his head screwed on.

He never does a la the Arsenal/Juventus CL game where he got sent off for a reckless challenge. Although i do think hes a funny guy, his theatrics are nothing short of hilarious at times.
Thimk he should take up acting after hes done playing football, seems to me it could be just his thing:p

Your being specific to this tournament where he hasnt exactely shown the form he does for Liverpool.

The thing is though, that they both play in the same position. And Totti, despite just coming back from a broken leg, is at least getting in positions to score. With playtime, he'll get sharper, and put away the chances he has.
But this isnt a player comparision. My point was that he doesnt seem to do as well at national level as he does at club. A similar trait that has been laid at the feet of both Gerrard & Ronaldinho.

Great post

I think Italy looked pretty good out on the field today. Surprised to see Inzaghi staying on-side so much :p
Player of the match goes to either Cannavaro or Buffon imo.

Excellent to see Ghana get through to the next round. They're fighters alright (though t'were never a penalty).

Gerrard and Ronaldinho are limited at International level where they aren't at club level.

They at least look good playing for their country. Totti looks very ordinary.

he's just come back from a long term injury tho hasnt he.
Yes. A broken leg iirc. And even though he's only just come back he's doing a dam sight better than some other players that are just coming back from long term injuries.

always thought he was overated anyway. like a lot of italian players these days
Care to point out a few examples? ;)
Although to say 'a lot' in regards to one particular nationality is pretty nieve, considering the amount of over-rated players playing for almost every country in the WC.

very poor game i thought,Czechs, bar Nedved, didn't seem to have much heart for the fight, and the Italians just did as little as was needed.Ah well, hope Japan can give it a go tonight

Was working during todays games sadly but they went as I predicted even though I liked all the teams in the group.

I think Italy can win the tournament. Got great players in every position (now De Rossi is out) and a good, patient style of play this time around even though they haven't hit top form yet.

Also thought Totti played really well in the opener against Ghana, he was just hitting loads of great, quick passes parfectly into the paths of who they were intended for. Although I agree, he has flattered to deceive in previous tournaments.

Trust me to stumble in here late.

Although through, the change of system is a recipe for disaster. Camoranesi needs to be taken somewhere and shot, Totti needs to be threatened with the same treatment for his ludicrous attempted lobs and Toni shouldn't have been dropped.

Glad we won the group though :)
