just thinking this through, the only scenarios whereby france go out is that togo beat them, or its a draw and switz beat SK ?

is that right ?
Aye, looks that way:

Code:
1 South Korea 2 1 4
2 France 2 0 2
3 Switzerland 1 0 1
4 Togo 1 -1 0

Or if Togo lose to them and beat the Swiss by enough goals to get a decent GD.

hmm actually thats a great point, I read the table as in all 4 playing 2 games. with the swiss and togo only playing one each is going to make it a lot tighter for france to go through.

Edit: Someone shoot Vieira, put him out of his footballing misery.

A bit harsh I feel, OK so he fluffed a shot at the end, but apart from that I thought he had a good game. Goal(?) disallowed, very good passing and involved quite a lot.

Incidentally I thought the BBC were going a bit overboard about the disallowed goal, I mean it wasn't BLATANTLY over the line like that Mendes one vs Roy Carroll, this one was quite hard to tell because the ball was in the air and the keeper was falling backwards. Bearing in mind the whole of the ball has to cross the whole of the line, it'd be pretty hard to call that one. Arguably the ref may have had a better view of it than any of the camera angles anyway, and it's not as if the French players nearby were up in arms about it.

SK fans were superb btw.

Unbelievable what a load of crap the BBC were spouting off about Togo - its not Togo players wanting more money, its the Togo FA promising them a bonus months ago, and then changing their mind and not coughing up.

Because the Togo FA can't sort their act out, their manager resigned for a few days as well. Blatant misrepresentation of the facts by the BBC, should get done for libel

The ball was definitely over the line for me. The keepers hand was behind his knee, with his leg at a right angle and his foot more than a ball widths away from the line. Did the ref blow for a free kick after the ball went over the line? Or was it for the hack at the SK defender as he cleared the ball?

Good result for SK, makes the group a bit more interesting.

use the money from the libel to pay the players :D

Only saw the second half, but France were poor in that. Got the impression they had been doing well in the first half from what commentators and presenters were saying. Even with there performances would be surprised if they didn't beat Togo, mind you thought that about Senegal last time. Oh well at least they will have a goal to their name this time. :D
