World in Conflict BETA GAME TALK

Looks like 2900XT people are going to have to wait, till atleast tomorrow to find out whats wrong.

I cant beleive they never tested or had a tester with an 2900XT card.

What a joke.

Yea never heard of these developers before they seem like a bunch of noobs :p

well just done the benchmark with the new beta drivers at 1680x1050 dx10, ,maximum everything, 4xaa/16xaf:

min:23
avg:29
max:56

New beta drivers give me a few extra fps in the benchy, not too mention much smoother performance in game (although it was pretty smooth beforehand anyway). Seems like the game plays a lot better than the benchmark indicates.

p.s. Looks unbelievably stunning.

yeh playing the game, it only seems to slowdown when your face is in loads of explosions and firing e.t.c. when your zooming round *** map issueing commands and e.t.c. its very smooth indeed.

I am quite optomistic, seen as this is a beta demo along with beta drivers for dx10, which nvidia themselves say they have to work on a lot to get the best performance out of it (i.e. they havent yet). I would imagine by the time its realised its performance will have gone up a fair bit.

I tried the GTX at stock 1680x1050, then 660/1566/2100. I was surprised with only 1 fps increase in the bench. With Vista 32 and [email protected], max settings 8xAA 162.11. Same with moving fom 4xAA to 8xAA only a couple of fps difference.

Fraps in game is higher. 8xAA

It happens with me aswell.

To avoide that or minimise the amount it happens the best way ive found is not to zoom in very much.

Hehe, gotta admit, Massive have made some of the best looking and playing strategy games. The ground control series especially. Loving this too. Still havnt got the torrent down yet though, should be done by later today.

Can someone post up some screen shots of the menu's, so I can set my options, screen rez, antialiasing, sound etc.
Seeing as I am a poor owner of an XT2900 I get a garbled menu, so cant set anything.

Played closed beta, it was awesome, giving this a go tonight, even free'd up a HDD to put vista on and get DX10! :D

Good tip is to be something everyone else isn't, unless you "KNOW" what you are doing.

If someone's anti-tank, cover with anti-air.
Sometimes I invite my brother over to play with me, I go Heavy Air (Anti-ground helos) and he goes medium(Anti air Helos) and we harass everything except ground anti-air..

But with some smokes you can take them out as'well, or invite a third friend to be tanks! :D

Also pooling TA points (TAB Menu) into one person/friend can get you those nukes and/or bigger bombs faster! Team game, not solo!

Cannot stress that one enough. Never play your favourite role unless nobody else is. It is so much easier to score points when no one else is stealing your game, so to speak.

Just joined my first game five minutes in, no one playing infantry - hid all my men in the forests and laid waste to armor and helicopters driving past or flying over me to control points, and managed to launch the only nuke in the round with my own TA points :D

Missed out on first place (I've never won a round :() by only a couple dozen points though :(

This is another really useful one, especially if you want that carpet bomb (never underestimate this one, anything in the bombing corridor - and this is a HUGE corridor - will be totally laid to waste)

ive started an OcUK clan again.. more for just finding each other when playing than anything, it is as OcUK

I think i might have to invite people though, so i need your exact tags.

hi

been playing allday :) and i must say in is great espicially when a nuke lands the effects are so real

anyway this was my fps for direct x 9/10

direct x 10 benchmark : average 16fps
direct x 9 " " : average 38fps

it was unstable on dx10 with the new vista64 beta drivers, but when i changed it to medium dx9 settings it was very stable
