Didn't they recently merge with Activision? Maybe it's based on something from their catalogue... do they still own the rights to Mechwarrior?

A Blizzard community representative has confirmed on the US World of Warcraft forums that a number of jobs advertised by the company are for a new MMO project that isn't connected to World of Warcraft.

FASA have now got the rights back, and are supposed to be working on something.

I sure hope they do a mech based mmorpg.

And release some single player goodness with online play in the meantime.

amen brother, would be awesome to start off with a young soldier who at the top level you can 'convert' them into a higher job rank like magician/black robe/valheru.

It's been strongly hinted by devs on the Bioware forums that their MMO has nothing to do with Star Wars. EA doesn't have the rights for that anyway. They're keeping schtumm about whether it's based on a new setting or on one of their existing IPs, but Dragon Age or Mass Effect would be where my money's going.

Regarding Blizzard's game, my money would be on a Starcraft-based game as well. Development will probably take 5 years anyway so it'll be good timing considering SC2 will come out in a couple years' time.

Hope it is starcraft....I've been looking for a good MMO to get into. I saw a traler for one that looked very similar to Diablo 2 which could have potential - Anyone know what that's called?

yes and they would want to milk as much out of new starcraft gamers as fans of the older game

Exactly, which is why it's looking more like a Starcraft MMO since they already have the fans for the Starcraft universe, much like Warcraft did.

I think they did start one, got to the beta stage as well then it was canned.
