World of Warcraft: Classic

Started fresh on a new server, playing alliance. I've gone for something I've NEVER played, on a race I hate(d) and on the side I've never played on...

A female night elf druid... And I'm loving it! It was nice starting from scratch, druid leveling is fun, it's very basic at the moment as I'm only Lv16, but I'm excited to get cat form at Lv20 but won't be using it until I've fleshed out some talents to support it properly.

Ran a total pug of MC last two nights we got 8/10 down with random geared and specced folk from IF not bad for a pug.

We didn't have enough fire res on the tanks to keep going, but shows the improvement in skill level / knowledge from original

Also shows the difference the 1.12 itemisation has on the ability to carry a raid through MC. On top of that, a 40man pug likely has 40 people who want to be there, with way better internet connections then 15 years ago. Also the ability to instantly and easily create voice comms on a widely used platform really helps.

When I ran MC many years ago we had VoIP :) I just remembered getting totally nuked at every boss not breezing through like the other day :)

Unfortunately I only got cores as loot, but you are right the people that wanted to come all know what was going on from the get go

Which server?

I first played WoW a couple of weeks before TBC came out, so thought I'd give Classic a try so I can hopefully experience some of the raiding content that I didn't do first time around.
Quite enjoying it despite the slower pace , the Community thus far on Nethergarde Keep seems better than my recent experiences with retail.

Surprised there hasn't been any posts on the state of world PVP if you are on Alliance side and on pvp servers. Just wanted to remind people that when BG's come out Alliance will get the last laugh, insta queues and actually fair engagements :D Horde may be laughing now, but Alliance will get the last laugh later.

There's a lot of people with nothing left to do, which is why world PVP is crazy at the moment. Bit of a meh situation really as already spoke to few lower randoms in game who basically may quit because they now can't get anything done. Assume will see BG's earlier than expected, maybe they will do a Dire Maul and throw them into the mix before next raids etc.

I haven't played for the last few days. I've realised I can't really raid at the time my guild does due to RL commitments so it's killed my motivation a bit which is a shame. I'm also in a server which appears to be 80:20 in favour of horde so everything is problem at the moment really.

Point 1: join a different guild, or pug raids.

Point 2: Every PVP server has a similar ratio. It isn't 80:20 for us its more like 65:35 but yeah blizzard screwed up allowing it to get this far.

They assumed people wouldn't play, they were wrong. They assumed 90% of the people would quit, they were wrong. Now we have mega servers 30K + populations with the same resource limitations as a 3k max population server from classic, and where a population imbalance creates a difference of thousands of players not just a couple of hundred.

Releasing BG's early will not fix the actual problems.

Still playing and still enjoying it.

Have been 7/8 Giant stalker on my hunter for the last 3 weeks now. Need the legs to complete the set but lost them the only time i saw them drop. Also got the epic bow.

Been farming dire maul tribute solo's too, Made just over 1k gold in a weekend farming to get my epic mount. I Had a lock box drop which i didnt think much of. When i finally got around to opening it to my surprise i looted a +4 chest enchant! basically the rarest enchant in the game, quickly sold it for 1200g.

I guess i am now set for a while on the gold front, also started leveling a priest and got to level 20, really enjoying that too!

Horde or Alliance? There's a few of us on Alliance, thinking of starting a guild, I find that most guilds are run by idiots who think that because they run a guild that they're somehow superior to everyone else, or they have stupid requirements. I found a great guild on a different server but ended up bouncing to a different server for the reasons listed below.

That doesn't really make it any less frustrating though, it's still a complete PITA and the reason many of us started on a fresh PVE server.

We moved to a PVE server because of it. I was stupid to go for a PVP server but then I was sucked in by the hype on here, thinking we'd all be playing together, when in reality crap leadership, no communication and the ridiculous queues on launch meant that everyone was split all over the place. We've now started doing what we should've done from the get-go and started fresh on a PVE server which is a million times more fun. The only griefing I've encountered so far is a 19 rogue twink in Westfall killing the Defias Traitor which is an escort quest. People get annoyed and attack him, so their PVP turns on and he one-shots them. He was there for about three hours on Saturday night apparently, living his best life and fulfilling his dreams I guess.

Anyway, my lil priest is now level 17, did his first DM run last night and bagged a few bits & pieces. One thing I've noticed is that I am consistently getting compliments about my healing. Almost every run someone mentions how I'm never OOM, and that I am doing DPS too, albeit just wanding. Are other healers that poor then? Don't get me wrong, I love healing and have been doing so since LK but I didn't realise that it was that bad. All I do is use Healbot, bind my spells properly, and then only heal what I need to heal. The no1. rule is to avoid overhealing, and also don't heal if you don't need to so you can be regenerating mana with all that lovely spirit. Add Recount to the mix and you can really see every little detail of who's doing what so you can work on mana preservation.

I need to level up a warrior and tank for a bit, I'm keen to see how others heal to see where they're going wrong.

Other healers are that bad.

Healers are in the odd position of never getting the chance to compare their performance directly with other healers until they hit 60, so by which time all the bad habits have set in. Even then (at least with priests) those bad habits can put them to the top of the "meters" by sniping healing with flash heal so that they think they're doing a good job, apart from burning through their own mana and wasting everyone elses at the same time. Main thing at that point is to make sure you can see peoples healing casts as they are casting them, so you can cancel if it's going to cause a lot of overhealing.

I might start a guild on my server for one insanely selfish reason... Lottery. The guild I'm currently in are not that big, fairly active. They do a weekly lottery, the guild takes 20% of the pot and the winner gets the remaining 80%. There is an addon that controls it, the player simply sends 50s per ticket to the character hosting the game, 25 tickets max. No alts. The pot was something like 950g this week!

They should rename alliance on pvp servers to corpse runners took us over an hour just to get in brm the other night must have been over 100 horde outside the instance

Levelling up now is a pig I'm level 55 trying to do simple quests takes an age had 2 lvl 60s watching my back in un goro crater till we gave up as a dozen lvl 60 horde show up corpse camping

Going give it a miss and reroll on a pve I dont mind pvp but this is ridiculous

Same here, Horde seem a lot more focused on ganking than alliance. At least from my view on my server. It's super annoying. But I signed up for a PvP server so I'll just crack on with it.

Yeah, I remember all the recount heroes just spamming all their cooldowns in 5 seconds just to top the meters whilst the poor tank is wondering wtf is going on. Dps are shocking for this too tbh. Another deadmines run tonight, one death (me), dinged 18. I love healing. Off to Redridge tomorrow.

Come join us on Nethergarde Keep, there are a few of us and we're always looking for fresh faces. Screw pvp, that's gonna cost Blizzard a ton of money. I suspect many will just quit because of it.
