I played with Germans, French, Dutch and a vast amount of other Europeans in my guild when I played Classic WOW back in 2005/6. Why is it such an issue now ?

Because back then, the vast majority of them were speaking English on the English realms (and those who couldn’t were playing on the French / German realms).

By having just “EU” realms it means that you would likely end up with a large proportion of the server you can’t really communicate/socialise with. Anyone who played on a realm with a large Russian population in Vanilla will tell you how bad this ended up.

Not that it matters, as there will be English/French/German/Russian realms in Classic.

It's odd people complaining about a beta being dead, it's been open a while and there is nothing to do at 40 aside from run the same dungeons.

I'm kinda hoping it will be dead after the first few weeks when it goes live, I'm going to take my sweet time and will be using this as a scapegoat from other games. I just want this to be relaxed mindless fun

Why would want it dead! levelling and battling/pvp in the open world was the best thing about vanilla. :D

Right, now that Classic is fast approaching, are there any plans to setup an official OcUK guild?

Me and 6-7 friends (all members on here) are planning on going alliance on a PvP server, so hopefully that works out with what others are planning.

It might be worth putting together a list with Battle.net usernames and also speaking to the guys that run the unofficial Discord server about setting up some channels.

Confirmed list:

Horde

smeaney

Alliance

Robi + 6 others
McBain

Horde or Alliance
ShortWarning + 2-3 others

Might be a dumb question but here goes.

I don't have access to my old blizzard account and I don't have any type of WoW account on my current account - what will be the initial cost for me to start playing? Will I have to buy WoW, again?

All you will need is a subscription. This gives you access to all WoW content (including classic) except for the latest expansion.
If you want to play the latest expansion, this still has a "box" price.
I have no idea what the latest expansion is called.
I assume as new expansions get released, they will merge stuff into the "all inclusive package" and then continue to charge for the new expansions.

Excellent stuff! Might give it another go then for the sake of a tenner!
