World of Warcraft: Classic

Played for about 5 hours last night which is by far the longest I've played any game in one sitting in many years. I'd have played all night if I didn't have work today.

Got to level 8 then a couple of friends logged in so I basically did the whole process again so I'm a bit behind but I don't care I'm loving it. I've leveled my fishing and cooking as well which I've never done in wow.

Looking forward to getting some more game time in tonight.

It's good to be home.

As someone else mentioned above, levelling is generally more fun than endgame.
Redoing content also means you will gain extra xp making the next content easier. Its always easier in classic to do stuff thats at your level than try to do orange and red quests.
So spending time on trade skills and cooking is good. In classic this also forced you to explore a lot for the stuff you need in order to improve those skills. The journeys you make to get new bandage skills for first aid can be epic at early levels and will lead you into zones you have not touched.
Fishing in particular is very dull to do for a long time. So gaining +10 points every now and again makes it easier.

Resubbed for the first time in quite a few years, just for the nostalgia. So many people milling about doing quests. Reminds of the good old days, when I first started playing. Makes a nice change to seeing empty areas that made the game feel like single player one. It may not last, except on the most populated servers, but it was good to see nonetheless.

One person typed in the starter zone chat, that he/she had more fun in 2 hours on classic Warcraft than the whole of the BFA expansion.

I didn't play WoW at all "back in the day", I did try it a couple years ago as I had a few mates playing it. I never got into it, as a fresh player to the series the latest iteration was just a bit overwhelming I think. Really enjoyed playing classic for all its faults last night though. Much simpler, decent core gameplay.

Quite amusing to be able to run it so easily at 5120*2880... Not a jagged edge in sight for the most part when downscaled to 1440p!

The Low, Medium, High and Full indications on the login screen are waste of time. They have been altered and are meaningless.

They are now "relative" to the entire player base. So "Medium" just means there are a lower number of people trying to access this server compared to a "Full" one.
"Medium" could actually be a Full server with a 2 hour queue.

The numbers in the queue system are also not what you expect them to be.
There are 2 queues. One for people with session ids and one for people without.
If you get DCd you have a session id. The number shown on the login screen is just the sum of these 2 numbers.
The people with session ids get queue priority. This is why the number can and does go up while your trying to log in.
You loose the session id when the hamster dies though which is why you end up at the end of a massive queue again.

There is a timer on the login screen also, but tbh I think it is just a random number.

68 members at the moment.

Tempting, do prefer Horde for PvP tbh.

Are the queues still silly?

We expect to be around 100 members on the horde guild by the end of today. The guild leaders have plans to raid but its just too early to set at this point in time, we will discuss future plans with everyone involved (something we're getting asked more frequently).

Regarding servers/guilds moving elsewhere etc. We will remain on Firemaw and this will not change. Servers have been added daily and numbers have been going down on Firemaw as others migrate and the hype settles down. We're in for the long run and aren't interested in jumping server each time a new server has queues to log in. I suggest players download Teamviewer or some alternative program to get online. If you're off work and playing, there was no queue today at 6 am. Currently there are queues to log on and it'll get worse during peak hours, plan ahead.

I was up early today and at 5:30am there were no queues.

Edit: Also no queues on Shazz at the same time this morning.

Yeah I did get in early this morning for a bit but I logged out to force myself to do some work. :)

Queued at 11am and was at 15k, in just over 2 hours I am down to 9290 in queue, so with a bit of luck I should get in by the time I get home after work. :p
