World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade release date officially announced.

LOL!

World of Warcraft was one of the most rushed games in existence. The servers don't work properly and repetedly have to be taken offline for Blizzard to paper over the cracks. We've had what.... TWELVE patches? And it's still nowhere near being a good product.

I don't blame Blizzard. They did the best they could, what with Activision right up their asses pressuring them to get the game on the shelves.

Oh is that so? I honestly can't remember the last time my server went down apart from for scheduled maintenance.

The majority of the patches have been to add more content to the game. Of course there's still some bugs but Blizzard have done a bloody good job fixing the majority of them. Of all the MMO's I've played in my years WoW is by far the most polished.

I think you'll find most of them are down today. ;)

And I take you've never been to bwl and got disconnected for the xxxth time.

The biggest issue they had is that they totally underestimated the demand for the game (perfectly reasonable based on other games though). They've been playing catch up ever since as regards system performance.

Uuuh, yeah...that's for scheduled hardware upgrades.

And I've never been disconnected in BWL, ever.

Dude I can think of a dozen other mmo's off the top of my head that were in a worse state when released

EnB
EVE
Neocron
DAOC
EQ II
Dark and Light
Ananrchy online. To name a few

Blizzard did a great job with WoWs release, while there were a few smaller bugs there was nothing that caused and major problems. They woefully underestimated the damand for the game, I don't think anyone saw it becoming this popular.

Jokester
and they've not caught up yet so i have concerns for the release of BC tbh....

everytime they do a patch or even far to often just normal weekly maintence the servers end up going down for additional time and /or everyone seems to suddelnly suffer a ton of lag for the next 24hrs+

esp in endgame instances where you're trying to kill Razor or even Neffy and 6-10 people are getting random DC's ! not good esp when its the MT.
