World tightrope record broken

The guy is an idiot. He shouldn't be risking his life with a wife and three kids. That kind of stupidity it saved for prior to settling down, when it largely doesn't matter what the outcome is.

You mean once I settle down, I can no longer push myself beyond the boundaries of risk? Madness.

If he's not gone through planning and just one day decided to walk across a tight rope, I can say he's a loon and his family deserves better.

This type of 'stunt' he's done had a team and meticulous planning involve. The finial finishing of the walking the rope is down to him. His family support most likely helped drive him to finish it too.

I knew this event was taking place after seeing an advert on tv..... Only just realised from watching OP link that he was blindfolded!!! That is ridiculous!

I imagine it's quite easy to do 2ft off the ground in safe conditions but just seeing the video panning the height shocked me, I don't think I'd have the balls to even take the first step knowing that a single mistake = death. You rarely see that type of courage these days, the closest I can think of is Isle of Man TT.

That probably helps him focus on his other senses and block out any distractions tbh, it might even be harder to do it not blindfolded.

I thought tight rope walking would be pretty straight forward, but I tried it once in a park as some guy had a rope set up. I couldn't even manage four steps. Once the rope starts bouncing, you've had it. Couldn't figure it out at alL!

No, he died instantly I'm afraid :( it was windy and thats why he got into trouble. He was 73.

Why do it so high up, surely walking a tightrope is walking a tightrope be it 1 foot or a 100 foot off the ground ?

Well it isnt going to attract mass media attention if he just did it on a rope that was a couple of feet of the ground would it?

No, no, much better to do it at great height and cream off the money from all of the publicity ;)

For some reason, I find tightrope walking to be really uninteresting, no matter the height or danger

It's probably impressive, but it all just makes me feel a bit 'meh'
