Worm holes and black holes are measured indirectly iirc? Something about how x-rays defract, which the results can be turned into a contour plot and some interesting results.

Yup. Black holes absorb pretty much everything, so the only way to observe them is their gravitational pull, and the effect this has on surrounding cosmos.
