ok, I thought this might be something good to play with some mates over LAN/internet and I'm wondering what fans of the series would regard as the best version to go for?
We're all using XP if that makes any difference.
Have got to be Worms 2 - solely for the funny introduction videos
Otherwise, I've been running Worms Armageddon on my XP system for years - playing it often with my little brother. Have not tried other Worms on my system since running XP back in 2002.
Worms 2 i have to say is the best out of the lot. much easier on the eye and has a real sense of character . perfect for lan gaming with your buddies !
Worms 2 - I loved the fact that you could alter the weapons in the options. Set the mini-gun to 50 rounds, and the shell explosions to the biggest which was about 75% the size of the holy hand grenade. Stand at one end of the map and fire, you'll practically destroy every piece of land on the map.
Worms armageddon with the community patches. I play this constantly almsot everyday. Worms WP has a few extras but im fine without them for now besides the community will put them in eventually since the community leader has the source code.

Eventually it will be much better than the wwp wormpot (pretty much the only extra feature) assuming it does get finished, and it already can do a lot that WWP can't do.
If you ever used the fiddler, the plan is for schemes to be as powerful as that. It'll be like the old worms 2 customisation but advanced enough to change which sprites each weapon uses etc. Unfortunately the fiddler isn't compatible with the latest patches so you need two installs, and even then there are issues with windows compatibility.
world party being best because it's latest is a misconception Armageddon is better, and worms 2 has the additional weapon customisation, which neither of the others have, but lacks big colour maps and has poor resolution.
p.s. I wouldn't really call deadcode the community leader
