Worst car you have driven

Like many of us, i have driven quite a few cars in my time... both for business & pleasure.

Which car have you been unfortunate enough to drive.

Mine... Definitely my 1993 Proton ( Bought in early 00’s)
Silver / Light grey: Depending on the light & angle
1.3 MPI (Mitsubishi engine)
(Multi Point Injection, basically 3 valves per cylinder)

+:
4 door
Roomy
large boot... Handy for a double buggy.
Comfortable & smooth engine
Good so far...

- ;
Gutless
Nasty plastic fascia
Handling

As Mr Clarkson stated;
“I’ve been on a barge that handled better”... or words to thar effect.
It was so vague, you began to wonder if the steering wheel was actually attached to anything.
Also had a ‘wallowing’ effect.
( Perhaps the string had stretched).
I felt as though I was being punished... & the ribbing from my workmates.

And I thought the Datsun Stanza’s handling was bad.

I learnt to drive in my Dads Vauxhall Chevette (aka ‘Shovit) 1.3 Special.
( First actual time was in a Viva GLS... but that was only in a straight line though).
Actually... they wasn’t that bad.
Very positive clutch...took some getting used to.
My Proton still wins.

Rover / MG Montego Turbo, torque steer so violent it would try to change lane, harsh ride, crap build quality.

We had Montegos for work, but my boss’s personal car was the MG.
We all used to love borrowing that.
I bought a new MG Maestro EFI.. Quality was not their strong point.
(Especially in the trim / interior dept)

Always thought that the engines were too torquey for the chassis.
Quick & good fun though... but underrated against its competition.

The 1980’s Datsun Stanza: Actually a really nice car... but very interesting handling characteristics.
Understeer & Oversteer in a FWD car.
They got some independent engineers to try & sort it out...not sure if they ever succeeded.

Some interesting posts here.
I suppose, that for the lucky few, the worst car they have driven is their learner / test car.
Perhaps we should state that... Power to the Vauxhall Chevette.

There's nowt wrong with the Shoveit. Used to have a right laugh in one of those. RWD and 0 grip on crossply tyres made for a fun combination.
Have fond memories of learning to drive in my Dads Chevette... once you got used to the on / off clutch action.
Bit if a harsh ride, but nippy enough & handled well.
My first car was an Escort Mk2 1.3L.... that was a hoot too.

Get the urge sometimes, to be let loose in some of the older cars that I have driven...just for a day.
Even better... get to drive some of the cars my Dad owned.

Corsa C 1.0, i think my Dyson hoover had more power.

It had the most tinny door shut ever, felt like if i closed it too hard it would fold in on itself and warp into a blackhole.
Sounds like my 205...It had a nice ‘ting’ to it.
It was a Junior diesel ( Denim interior, complete with orange stitching)
Once you got it going it was OK .. great handling.

There was a old story about a woman who was complaining about how her Mercedes had very poor mpg.
She pulled the choke knob out to hang her handbag on.
( Very long time ago... but you get the scenario)

Also, we had to flip the Winter / Summer setting over on the air intake.

Just seen a FB page that made me chuckle & think of this thread;
“ If you was 007 for the day... what would your choice of car be”

Can you imagine some of the cars on here being kitted out.
( Certainly be well undercover then).
