Rant...

I recently ordered a vinyl LP from the rainforest (are we still not allowed to mention them by name here?).... It was a fairly expensive (£30) limited edition double album of 7,500 copies worldwide. It arrived today and I was staggered when the postie handed over a completely un-packaged item, which at first I thought had met with some accident in the postal system, but no... Am**** had simply stuck the address label to the shrink-wrap on the LP's cover and sent it on its way.

Of course it was a right mess, with every corner smashed, and dents and scrapes all over. I'm boggled that any company would think this is an acceptable away to deliver something. To cap it all they can't guarantee getting another copy... they may, but it could take weeks, so I'm fuming... and getting my money back [I now have the hassle of doing a return] :(

I've bought vinyl from them before, and it normally comes in a huge box, so I hope this is not some new policy... it'll be my last vinyl order if it is.

Rant over...

Was this sold by Amazon or fulfilled by Amazon? or just someone selling through Amazon and not despatched by Amazon at all? some fulfilled stuff they seem to just send out as its sent to them :s

That's appalling, has to be cost saving but how they don't know in the long run that's going to cost them money I don't know. Maybe it was a work experience kid in the warehouse thought it was OK?

Did they offer an excuse as to why its was packaged so Badly?

No the lady I spoke to was not really interested, but I have sent an email asking for it to be looked in to.

I assumed it was amazon reseller, sold by Amazon that's really bad!

Email a complaint, I just did about a late delivery and got money back :)

BAN THE OP

Pics or it didn't happen.

Amazon, for me usually use far too much packaging. Could be a 3rd party who dispatched the item.

I'll grab one later.

The same with OTT packaging in the past... from one extreme to the other.

Usually Amazon put stuff in ridiculously big packaging.

Indeed... must have been some numpty in dispatch that day.

Love Loreena McKennitt so thumbs up for the LP but thumbs down for the packaging. Is it damaged?

One of the LP's has a scratch, but nothing to do with the lack of packaging... the cover is a mess though, worse than it looks in the pic.

She's great, and this is one of the best live albums I've ever heard... it sounds better than the studio versions.

Send it back under distance selling rules.
Andi.

At least Amazon are pretty good when it comes to returns... label already printed to take to my local collection point.

Will you put it in a box? :)

What's the album called, will have a listen?

I don't buy limited edition stuff from Amazon since they had my order for weeks, then just cancelled it when every where had sold out.
