Worst eating out experience?

had a chef come out and tell me his restaurant owner had banned him from serving streaks bleu. I was bloody annoyed at the time as its how I eat my steak. the chef was understandably embarrassed.

Have recently sent brown salad back whilst easting in john lewis, manageress bent over backwards though..

my worst, was going to a friends party, she had hired the whole restaurant and paid a price per head, the food, was sloppy, cold and uncared for and tiny. it seamed like they had given their usual chefs the evening off as it was "closed doors"....she was in tears at the quality. lets just say the manager was summoned more than once. will never experience something like that again im sure.

Lol, took a while for that to register :)

My eating out experiences have been quite good. The only time I've had to properly complain was a large pub/restaurant that I've been to many times before. The food took ages to come out and when it did had clearly been sitting under a hot plate for most of the time. The food was like plastic and I've not been back since.

The Bridge in Waterbeach?

I wish I had another account, that could have scared the **** out of you.

Not wonkis was it? Love that place. "You sit down". HK diner round there is good, try the bubble tea.

Is that the Wong Kee (or Wong Ki or whatever) that you're mentioning? With the all-white tables and chairs that looks like some halfway house canteen?

I popped in there for the first time last month and thought it was great! Cheap as chips, and the food was lovely. Totally not what I expected.

The other was Las Iguanas in Nottingham, my girlfriend is allergic to nuts and I seem to remember the menu guiding roughly which dishes were suitable, however when telling the person taking the order she had a nut allergy the guidelines on the menu seemed to go up in smoke and had to keep to'ing and fro'ing from the kitchen to see what parts of the meal she could actually eat, she wanted a burger which is usually no problem but it turned out all they were prepared to give her was the actual patty, wouldn't give her sauces on the fajitas etc was a bit of a PITA especially as it held up the order so long and made the missus feel really bad because of it. Why list dishes that contain nuts if you then say that the restraunt is not prepared to serve other dishes without said warning on them too?

We only went there once a good few years ago, and have never been back. The food was sub-par (and we both LOVE Latin food, her having South American ancestry), and the service... well, "abysmal" would be too kind.

The worst I had was 2 weeks ago, at a little place called The Summerhouse, just outside Weston. My sister and I, along with her boyfriend, took our father out for a meal, and the food was disgusting. It was cold and overcooked (And undercooked). I ordered a medium-rare steak, and it was served so well done that I could barely chew it. Also, my sister had a long black hair in her meal, and her boyfriends chicken was still raw in the middle. Not to mention that the staff all looked 16 and could only just understand English. We didn't pay, and went for Fish and Chips instead.

Ironically, when we went there a couple of months earlier, it was one of the nicest meals I had in a long time.

Jamies Italian Guildford, worst meal ever, service was crappy then they get all narky looking for a tip, yeah right!

Interesting, as the Reading branch is also total crap.

Tried it three times before giving up as people kept telling me it was good. I have realised they have absolutely No idea what a good restaurant is.

The last time I went in to be told they had run out of steak. All steak. Unbelievable.

Now that is a London classic. Rude waiters are part of the restaurant.

The crap buffet was probably Mr Au.

Quite agree, I was very dissappointed with the Reading Jamie's, service awlful, food a bit 'meh'. I've had better pasta in Ask.

Having said that, I've had a really good meal in the Bath Jamie's. Perfect steak.

Not exactly a worst experience but was quite funny

Me and a mate were at Koh Samui and had found this nice little Italian, to save hassle we thought we'd order the starter, main and pud rather than wait until finishing the meal then having to order a pudding

Well it seems some Thai's don't have any concept of courses and the waitress brought them all out at the same time, much to our amusement

I don't think I've ever been somewhere really awful... Somewhere in the lakes a group of us had supper there, some people had half cooked lasagne, but mine was OK... (waitress/chef (bartenders ~60 y/old wife) complained about them not finishing it though!).

My personal worst meal was at TGI Fridays somewhere near London... They had run out of half the things on the menu, and when the food came, there wasn't much of it, and it just tasted burnt, a bit 'chemicaly' (yes I know, everything's a chemical, but you know what I mean), and generally unpleasant. I passed comment, but everybody else seemed happy with theirs so I just put up with it. It was still an enjoyable dinner, just not because of the food.
