earlier today me and my brother were dicussing what the worst/most disappointing game endings were that we've played, we had not come to a conclusion but decided crackdown was one of the cheapest and worst we had seen lol. i reckon i've played games with a lot worse but never got to the end of them :p i also thought that the first stalker had some pretty disappointing endings. and also haze was shocking, but overall it was a shocking game imo.

overall i believe worst ending types are ones leaving it open for a sequel.

what do you think is has the worst ending (on any platform).

Halo 2

I got the xbox console on the day it came out, with the huge clunky controllers.
First game I played on it was Halo, and I fell in love.
I've not felt love for a game like that since Half Life really, a game that I thought this is probably going to go down as a truly great shooter.

Roll on Halo 2, took days off to get ready to play this.
What a let down, completed it in a day and the ending sucked :(

Never been more disappointed with a game.

The regular 'wish granter' endings are quite shallow and unsatisfying, but they are not the real ending to the game. You have to complete a certain line of quests which require you to explore and investigate a bit more than the main-story quest makes you, and at what the game is making you think is the end, you have to go the right way (it's a bit hidden and you won't know about it unless you did the quests). Then you get an extra level and a properly explained ending. Sorry if you already knew all that!

The ending sequence from the original Tomb Raider was pretty limp:

Haha, you're right. I liked that game though, had it on the Sega Saturn :D

yea i knew that lol, that why i said endingS :D

Can't believe I used to think that the tomb raider graphics were amazing.

Worst game ending? Don't have a clue, been playing fps's for too long now!!

Yeah fair enough, I thought you might have just meant the multiple wish granter endings though, because I wasn't disappointed with the proper endings :) I guess now you're going to tell me that's why you wrote some :p

I can't think of a specific game off the top of my head. But it would have to be one of the many that didn't tie up the story. One that sticks to mind was Assassin's Creed - while it offered closure to Altaïr's story it left Desmond's wide open for a sequel. There are games that didn't even finish the first act...

On the flip side, there have been some pretty good endings. My personal favourite was Prince of Persia - Sands... where the final scene mirrors the first.

While I agree Assassin's Creed didn't have the best ending I don't agree with the reason. Assassin's Creed is supposed to be a trilogy, they left it open for just that reason, the story isn't over!

Lost Crown

to put it mildly (about as disappointed as Zorg in 5th element at opening an empty case after fleeing the Fhloston Paradise)

It's just so clichéd to end the game with the story unfinished. I'm still burned by the sequels that weren't made - SiN episodes and Advent Rising both burned me
