Worst Opteron Overclocks!

had heard the 0551's aren't as good clockers as the 0550's but 2.5gig is still reasonable don't you think? :(
What kind of voltage are you pumping through it?

Is it just one of the cores which keeps letting you down?
My +3800 x2 will boot into windows at 2.8ghz on 1.45v but cant get core 0 prime stable without sticking 1.5v and dropping it to 2.4ghz!
Damn you Core 0 you little *******!!!!!!!!! :mad: :mad: :mad:

My opty 170 has yet to perform,

OSA170DAA6CD
CCBWE 0551UPMW
1392568L50&&3

its maxing out at 2150, hopefully Im just doing something stupidly wrong or noobish, but I dont know, it must be the worst clocking 170 I have heard of!

Yes these things are terrible, my guess is that the memory controllers are weak. I cant post at 10x270, but I can post at 9x300. I can get the cpu stable at 2500MHz, 1.4 Volt

darn opty's overheating :D - the cold bug still around on the opterons? e.g the newer 165/170 is ones?

Not really sure on how the recent ones handle the cold, I've been pretty busy lately so haven't been as up to date with things as usual. I think many of them have a moderate bug, but would probably be alright on single stage due to the amount of heat they put out.

Just avoid anything with a '2' or '3' in the stepping and it should be alright. ;)

My 146 CACJE 0604CPAW seems like a bit of a lemon, it maxes out at 2.53ghz with 1.45 volts. :(

Evryone else with the same stepping seems to be getting much better.

mine would boot with 1.45 at 3 ghz but wasnt stable till 1.52 volts. Put more voltage though it and see what you can get. Sometimes a little hike in voltage gives you a lot of headroom.
