Worst Roads

A12 - almost every day there's a crash because of people tailgating etc. Closer to london it's supposed to be the road with the most crashes on in the country I think I saw somewhere! Fortunatley, I travel it at odd times and against the rush-hour traffic, but of course as soon as there's carnage on one side, the other slows right down, and there's usually a shunt that side too

And having had the misfortune to have to traverse part of the Cov ringroad last weekend, I can see where that vote came from!

there is an annoying road near me, but not because of the traffic. infact, quite the opposit

its empty, long, straight, wide, nicely surfaced, no houses... 30mph :(

the a45 is ok- shove on the cruise control and take it easy.

A465 (heads of the valleys road), 2 lanes with a shared overtaking lane = bloody dangerous (always get big crashes on it).

M4 between hammersmith flyover and reading is usually bad at certain times too.

The A205 and A406....They needed to make the south and north circ bigger before the M25 imo :D

That was part of the original plan - there should have been 4 concentric motorways round London, the M25 is mainly Ringway 4 but follows the path of Ringway 3 around Watford for some bizarre reason.

currently in poland visiting the future in-laws. Road suck drivers are worse, wheels on cars dont roll down the road, they kinda bounce. Seen lots of trebants and fiat 126's too \o/
as for one way systems, nothing is worse than oxfords new revamped one way system it is the pits!

my vote goes for pretty much any road in the Birmingham Triangle (the birmingham area between the m5, m6 & m42)

from what i can tell the local council last resurfaced a road in 1907, there are road i won't take my semi-sporty car down at all because i find it impossible to keep all four wheels on the floor

if i had to choose an absolute worst road to go down, it'd have to be the A34 through Sparkbrook / Sparkhill area, it's a major artery road for birmingham but it's constantly jammed with idiotic local shopkeepers cars and double-parked delivery vans

that and the all new branch of No Competitors! FF. that passes for the m42 these days.. they spent all that time and money rebuilding the motorway with it's fancy traffic management system and what happens? it's still jammed every rush hour and the road surface resembles a washboard because they spent all the money they had for resurfacing on building a manned control office in central birmingham

:(

I only travel between J25 and J21A of the M25 - its congested but generally okay with the exception of the long stretch between 24 and 25 where traffic frequently grinds to a halt for no apparent reason.

Other than that, A406 round where I live, starting from the Lea Valley Tesco, past Bounds Green and Palmers Green and till the A10 round about is torture at rush hour with 3 lanes merging into one then three again and so on. Its not that bad most other parts of the 406.

Another bad one is Green lanes northbound on the intersection with the A406. No one can turn onto it off the side street where I live without blocking the box junction in the process.

The A406 is awful, but it's bliss compared to the A205, worst road in the world ever.

True, as most of it is single lane compared to the BIG A406. I find the Tulse Hill > Catford section horrible when there's traffic. Driving at 12am/1am is much nicer, don't like the sharp corners though.

I like the Mile End junction (where the McD's is) to A406 junction of the A12 (even though full of scameras), but after that going out of London towards Essex the roads become more horrible.

I read the website some time ago and is very interesting (or am I sad? :o ). Mentions that the Hackney Wick section of the A12 and the Westway (near Paddington) are the remaining bits of the partly constructed Ringway.

Talking of the Ringway, I live in the crappy council estate behind the barrier block which (Coldharbour Lane) was meant to be part of Ringway 1.

Another A406 vote from me, especially the few miles leading upto the Blackwall Tunnel.

Thats the A12 :p Always traffic southbound before entrance to the tunnel becuase of the traffic lights.. traffic from the A13. Going northbound from the A2, just before tunnel approach, it is a 30 zone and there is a scamera.. have seen many people brake just before scamera because they still think its a 50 or 40 zone.
