So while having major issues with Win 10 and my system being unable to install the anniversary update leading to me seriously considering reinstall windows, I'm toying with the idea of an upgrade. It's a relatively old PC now so I'm wondering if its actually worth it. Currently its the following set up -

I5 2500k from god knows when
ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 board
R9 290 graphics card
Crucial M4 128gb SSD with windows and a few programs on
2TB HDD with mainly games and a few files
Samsung 840 250gb SSD with a few random games, mainly overwatch/diablo/starcraft I think.

Is it worth me getting a newer, larger SSD, thinking a 500gb 850 evo to replace the Crucial and then using the 840 elsewhere or for something else, or isn't it going to make much of a difference?

Hey there, Jano.

Even with different performance, going from one SSD to another probably won't make a very noticeable difference in your situation. In any case it won't be anything like jumping from an HDD to an SSD as the read speed of those two drives does not have a huge gap and you could achieve the same by using your other SSD as an OS drive. So the only thing you'd be improving is your SSD storage capacity in my opinion. Having this in mind, it all comes down to personal preference and budget. So unless you need more SSD storage capacity for gaming (note that the only thing that would improve compared to an HDD is the loading time, both for the game and the in-game loading screens) or something else, you don't need an SSD upgrade.

Hope that helps.
