Worth buying a PS3 just for MGS and GT?

I have a long summer ahead of me after my GCSE's and so far have been extremely bored. I've seen MGS and GT and they look great. The only thing I am unsure about is MGS for online. It looks good on the online videos but there doesn't seem to be a lot of hub-bub about it in reviews etc. Is it good? I would also like to know of any other reasons to buy a PS3 now rather than keep my money or upgrade my PC, I have about 900 quid, and already have a 360 but don't play loads of games on it. I would probably also buy most games that are on both for my 360 as the controller and online is better on 360. My mate might be picking MGS tomorrow so I can see it, but I want to know if buying a PS3 with only these games in mind at the moment is worth it. Also I have no job, so losing this money and gaining it back over the summer isn't an option right now, so it is more of a decision to make. Thanks.
 
Certainly not for GT5p, it's not the full game, it's basically an extended demo.

I haven't completed MGS4 a lot, but what I've played I would say no, but there are other games like Uncharted.
If you're not playing a lot of games on Xbox360, despite stating online and controller are better on the 360 I'm amazed you're even contemplating a PS3?
 
MGO seems to get slated in reviews, and I don't know why because a lot of us from here are playing it every night, I for one think it's great. It's very fresh and like nothing else out there.

Also, I wouldn't buy any console just for 1 or 2 games, it's a lot of money, no matter how great MGS4 is :)
 
the thing is... you may think you're buying for one game but it never works like that...

i bought my ps3 in anticipation of GT5P, and knew one way or another i would have one by the time metal gear came out... but since then i have done COD4, uncharted, skate, assassins creed, top spin 3, everybody's golf, and a few more games that i have thoroughly enjoyed but wouldn't have played if gran turismo and MGS4 were not coming out if that makes sence...

MGS4 though... it really is that good ;)
 
mgs4 is deffo worth it, sp is unbelieveable and mp is brilliant, didnt realise it was being slated by reviewers and i have no idea why its great.

also, just cause your buying it for 2 games just now dosnt mean your not gonna buy more in the future

and your also buying a top of the line bluray player

With a 360 & no income I can't see any benefit in buying another console regardless of how good those particular games are.

In saying that if you did buy one, grab Uncharted as it is also excellent.
 
You'd probably end up getting one at some point whethers its now or in the future, up to you whether it feels right now, there are some top exclusives due/out.
 
Probably yes (aka i want one 2 but i have to wait till the start of 2nd year uni to go halves on one with a flatmate). MGS and GT5 look awesome! plus GTA4 and Civ revolution are going to be on it (i want them! and i dont care about much else on the new console world). For me the 360 had both gta4 and civ revolution but only one exclusive im interested, Banjo Kazooie a lot with cool car thing (i read a preview on the plane over easter).

Best to get one if your not paying for it.....
 
I mean by 'just for' that the only games I know I want on it at the moment are MGS and GT5, not just Prologue but the full game as well in the future. Maybe I'm gettting desperate in the yearly games drought of summer but I've been holding on to nearly a grand for around a year and no games are coming soon for the PC that I would bother upgrading for until after summer. If my mate gets MGS I'll just have a go round his, then again he really only has his PS3 as far as I know for his dad to play GT5.

Oh and I kept on to my 360 for over a year to wait for GTA 4, otherwise I would have sold it.

I would go as far to say that MGS4 is probably the best game ever made...
I have often just bought consoles in the sole anticipation of a few games
PS3 = MGS4, DMC4 and Resident Evil 5(before there 360 announcement)also Silent Hill 5
Xbox 360 = Halo 3, Dead Rising(shame they were just ok)
But games end up getting announced all the time that you have to go out and buy.
so...
GET A PS3 AND PLAY METAL GEAR SOLID 4 NOW!!!!
 
I got one (again) for MGS4.. but I'm also going through older stuff I missed pretty much after Heavenly Sword came out. MGS4 is living up to my expectations so far and that alone is worth it for me.

I rented and played through a chunk of Lair and I thought it controlled and played alright despite all the negative comments it gets. It doesn't look so hot just under a year on from release though. MGS4 came out so I stopped. Next on the list is Uncharted...
 
No console is worth any single or duo of games, but there are a fair amount of reasons to splash out for one.

I don't know why MGO gets slated either (probably from people who can't get online because of the rubbish sign-in system), and those who say MGS4 isn't that great needs to be shot. :p
