worth getting a 2nd hand Quest 1 ?

Just plug your phone in when you are playing :p

Gone for the pd redux, so quite a small compact one. I'll use tape or something to put something else in there to weigh it down if needbe.

EDIT - Just got the shipping email, 1st class, so hopefully here in a couple of days.

Velcro cable ties are a great way to attach battery packs. I used a car seat belt cushion for baby seats which I attached a battery to with velcro ties. The cushion itself has velcro and just wraps around the Quest's bottom strap, securing the battery and adding cushioning. It's super easy to attach and detach.

do you need Facebook on Quest 1 ? or is it just 2 ?

i permanently deleted my account a few years ago, now i see Quest 2 requires facebook
but F.B. wont let me start a new one

If you don't already have an Oculus account you now need a Facebook account unfortunately.

Though Oculus/Facebook now seem to be helping people with account issues if they have hardware (They require your device serial to prove that you need a Facebook account to access it).

Having worked in optics, having only 3 ipds and having to choose between them (unless you happen to be one of the 3 numbers) is pretty awful. In fact, pretty disgusting. No optician woth his salt would say this is a good thing. There should be a range so you can get your exact pd. If you`re out of the range, bad luck. But making people choose "thereabouts" is unacceptable and I see lawsuits in the future for Zuckerburg due to this. I`m sure he don`t care though.

Personally, I would advise not touching the Quest 2 unless your pd matches exactly one of the 3 numbers.

You can select inbetween settings.

What? The Quest 2 IPD adjustment works across a range of IPDs. And should be fine for most people. The people who will have trouble with these settings won't likely be able to use any headset whatsoever. The Index is 58 to 70mm, the Reverb G2 will only be 60 to 68mm. And even then, the IPD isn't the whole story. It's how the headset fits on your head, how far the lenses are from your eyes. And since you worked in optics and all, you know that the Pupillary distance isn't the same between both eyes for most people. So unless they come out with a headset that offers independent lens adjustment, all headsets on the market are "thereabouts"

You had the Oculus Rift S, right? That didn't have any physical IPD adjustments at all. The PSVR doesn't have a physical IPD adjustment either. Don't recall any lawsuits from either of those.

Hate Facebook all you want, that's fine, don't particularly like them myself. But, please stop talking rubbish. If using VR starts to give eye issues then every company that has ever sold a VR headset will be getting lawsuits.

The Q2 has three IPD settings where the lenses move/click into one of the three positions. If you're careful you can move the lenses any position between 1 and 2 and 2 and 3 to get your ideal IPD and the lenses will stay in that position.

Ah great - I'll look forward to hearing about it. I'm still on original Quest 1 strap, can cope with it but I'd welcome more comfort. If anything to stop the massive red mark you get on your face after a decent session and the pressure the original strap puts on your head - can be headache inducing sometimes lol.

That headstrap looks good, cheaper than the Elite Strap as well.

Like 2004typer, I will be waiting to hear how you get on with it :)

Results are in, it's good **** :)

Quest 2 versions are OOS right now, as far as I know he's a one man band unfortunately.

that strap looks odd, but you wont care when your gaming on it, you cant see it!

if its that good, do they do one for Quest 1 ?
