Worth getting a 2nd raptor?

I currently have a 74gbADFD raptor and i was wondering if its worth getting a second one for a raid 0 perfomance wise.

if you have data on there you can afford to lose then go for it. otherwise go for a larger drive for data.

I thought that RAID 0 does improve perfomance

the guy is using a pair of the older GD versions. The difference perfomance wise seems impressive :eek:

Am thinking getting a second one I just would like to see some solid tests

Having gone back and forth between RAID0 and separate drives on 2 74G raptors in the last week (rebuilds, changing my mind, etc.) I didn't see much difference.

The consensus is that you'll see the biggest speed increase when copying large files around. I find that I always want to use my second drive for other things (like vista) so I prefer no raid. You could always buy another drive though.

I emailed the bloke at anandtech to see if he still stood by his opinion...no reply.
The bloke who wrote the oblivion tweakguide uses 2 raptors in raid 0,he took a video of it and showed it smooth as out in the wilds fighting monsters with just using a 7800gt.He says the reason is oblivion uncompresses data on the fly (its 6.5 gig uncompressed) and the fast raptors make a big difference.
I just got a new 74g raptor so i`m happy with one.
