currently using a belina 20.1", thinking of selling it and getting 6 x 15.4" widescreen monitors, 3 on top of the other 3 if you get what i mean, do you think its worth it?

doh forgot to ask that, i currently have a 7800gtx, anyone know if this would actually work or am i just having another foolish idea?

It sounds rediculously unfeasible to me :/

6 monitors will surely unnescessary added stress. not to mention borders and working out a way of mounting said monitors.

just get a bigger monitor, or get two in dual if you're unhappy with your current setup.

Ant

Basically not a good Idea.

The Asrock Dual Sata 2 mobo has the ability to take enough cards to run 6 monitors though I believe from a review I read.

But I think after doing all that hard work it would probably be horrible to use and drive you mad pretty soonish.

Personally I don't think the idea is too stupid. Im planning on building up a 4 monitor setup. 1x2405, flanked by 2x19" with another screen above the 2405. You could run the 6 screens with 2 PCI-E cards in SLI, with the SLI switched off and another dual head PCI card for the remaining 2 screens. IMO, 6 screens is possibly a bit overkill, and 15.4"is too small. I'd at least get a decent sized primary screen and surround it with smaller ones. As for mounting them, there are plenty of multi monitor stands out there(The biggest I have seen, supporting 18 screens). Although excpect to pay a decent amount for this.

awww that sucks, wanted to splash out a little bit and get something that looks a bit more insanse
Are you planning to open the NASA control station node ? Seriously, it's sounds utterly crazy and don't see any point in that. How and where you will connect all those pretty monitors ?

How are you interpreting "insane" ?? and what exactly do you want ? Maybe projector is a way to go if you are keen to have just "insane" screen size.

Generally, I see growing trend here that people are "stacking" their monitors. OK ... I can understand dual view for multi purpose tasks; but If you have "one" screen which is simply not consistent, is that maybe annoying or unpleasant to the eye ? Just curious ...

I think its insane but a great idea. Do something different. I wouldnt do it with 6 51.4" widescreens though. I would get 3 20" widescreens or something along those lines.

How much do you plan to spend on the project ?

looking to spend around 600ish, tight budget as im a skint student, after thinking about 3 x 19"' widescreens would look nicer, just gotta get quotes for the stand for the thing

Why on earth do you want to do that? Not trying to offend you dude but that's ridiculously stupid. Just buy a 24" dell. That setup would probably be pants for everything.

Have a look at Ergotron and Comrac multiple monitor mounts. You'd be looking at quite a lot of money for a 6 monitor mount.

I think you'd be better off buying four 17" (Or 19" if you can stretch your budget) monitors, then mounting them in a 2x2 formation. You could then run them off an SLi setup with four outputs, or keep your existing card and shove in an additional PCI card with two outputs :)
