Hey all,

Wanting a little more performance out of my system and I remember when I first posted on a new system on here, one of the things that stuck in my mind was being told about getting another HD. I was already over stretching on the budget as it was without getting a new HD as well. I have an 80GB IDE one at the moment and was wondering if I changed to SATA, will I see an improvement in the general running and loading of things on my system. Right now I have E4300 @ 3.01GHz, DS3, 1GB Geil Ultra @ 836mhz 4-4-4-12. The Geil is getting chucked out of here after my exams as its just letting the whole system down with its crappy reliability and me wanting 2GB. But is it worth getting another HD too?

You will probably see some benefit in a new hard drive but that will be from advances in drive technology such as perpendicular writing rather than because it is SATA as such. I don't know what your budget is but the Seagate 7200.10 series and the Western Digital AAKS series are worth looking at. :)

right thanks for that. Is it worth spending money on the RAM rather than loads on a new HD if it will make little difference compared to the RAM?
