Worth moving from a 901 to a NC10?

The Asus ones keyboard keys are far too small for typing and the extra 168 pixels of vertical height when in that mode won't compensate for the worser keyboard. The battery is 3cell as well isn't it.

All in, the NC10 is the better netbook and that's not been argued by the masses at present.

99.999% of people do not have a Wind, 901,1000H etc to compare them to...I Do !
Lots of software has a 1024/768 min requirement

No the EEE901 has a 6600mah 6 cell and the charger is 12volt...So pc will run and charge from Your Car 12Volt without inverters...very valuable for a portable PC another + for the Asus

I have no loyalty to any products and try to not **** stuff I don't own, Just stating the real facts that cost Me a lot of money to find out and offering them free to anyone who reads this thread ;)

Any chance of some more detail and side by side photos allosunshine when you get the time.

Jakus you horder of netbooks :D

I love the overall size of the 901 is about the size of a paperback book I have yet to see the NC10 in the flesh but plan to see the size difference by poping down a local shop. Studying the photos of the NC10 I have to say the touch pad looks way too cramped!.. if it isn't one thing it is another!

I'm not saying you are wrong as that's how you feel in your view of the two products andI too am speaking from experience after having used those models in store and preferring the Samsung but I feel that saying teh Asus is much better is a bit far fetched.

NC10 also has a car charger @ £10 on the Bay so I don't see how the Asus being 12v makes it a selling point :)

It's the Screen and Keyboard that sold me on the NC10. I just found them to be better all round compared to the Asus, Advent and MSI netbooks I used.

Let's not forget the 901 has a 8.9" screen (though same res) and much smaller HDD.

My only dislike is the touchpad size is a bit small but you soon get used to it and the multitouch/tapzones are very useful in my usage apps.

I have yet to install an app that requires 768pixels high and I'm not exactly a light user! I have Photoshop CS4 installed too which is the daddy of screenspace eaters and manage to use it without major issue.

I couldn't have said it any better than mrk did, that is more or less the conclusion I came to as-well. I do tend to use a Logiteh VX Revolution mouse with mine a lot though, works fine even on the arm of a chair and is much better than the trackpad, which as you say, is the only real negative point of the whole package.

I wish I kept the VX lol, the little "wedge" USB dongle was ace but meh, I have grown used to the touchpad and am thankful that the input lag on it is very minimal unlike the monster lag that is present on the Dell Inspiron 1525 work got me that I'm on right now!

http://www.notebookreview.com/picture.asp?f=29597 <-- that's the one.

Notebook Review say the responsiveness is very good. I think Dell did something on the pre-release model NBR were given because it's far from good!

Good thing is that it is very sinsitive and the scroll zones work great.

If only it had little input lag...

:D LOL, See I'm an old fart and toys like this were not around when I was a Sprog..........so I'm making up for it with avengence :D

@ Mrk, I don't recall saying anything about which notebook was better, just pointing out what is better than the other regarding components of them !

The way I see it only Myself and 2Stepsteve have/had both Netbooks so would It not be more sensible to wait and see if He thinks the same as me ?

No one needs to defend their NC10 purchase, they are a good little netbook
Just as the 901 is, the NC10 is way ahead of the Asus and Wind on its internal design and cooling (uses a nice little toshiba Fan) but as I said for me the Audio and Video let it down after the Asus....and thats what I use these little Toys for

<throws hat into the ring>

Happy with my 901 too, although I think it will become all the spanglier when I get round to chucking in a Runcore SSD.....

Anyway, keyboard size is kinda awkward, but I have persevered and am at one with it now......that is my *only* foible with the 901. No doubt the NC10 is a great machine too, and seeing as all netbooks are roughly similar in most aspects, it all boils down to the individual user.
For me, I wanted as light as possible/small as possible, wireless-n and long battery life - 901 is more or less the perfect weight and size imho, any smaller would not be usable and much heavier and getting to close to laptops - think CNET argued that 1kg is where these machines *should* sit and I agree with that. Wireless-N is a killer app for movie watching from other network devices, Slingbox and so on - nicely offsets the limited built-in storage - and no issues with range and stuttering the G can bring. And battery life is also great, 6+ hours in my experience with the wireless on.....and without bulging/overgrowing bulk.

So yes, I think the NC10 is a lovely piece of kit and cannot be dismiissed as inferior to the 901 and - by the same token - don't think the 901 can be dismissed as inferior to the NC10.....horses for courses.......one thing I will say, currently seems that the smart choice is either or between these two !
