Worth RAIDing for program files?

I'm reorganising my hard drives, which include 2x Seagate 500GB drives, and was wondering if there would be any performance benefit from setting them up in RAID 0 or 1 (don't mind losing the capacity) and using it for Program files - mostly games? Got a 170gb steam folder so Raid 1 would sort of be like a backup for that + better loading speeds for maps and the such?
ta in advance

RAID 1 wouldn't increase loading speeds, it would give you security against a drive failing.

RAID 0 would increase speed, but if one drive goes you've lost everything. I've often considered RAID 0 but this has always put me off. I don't back things up nearly as often as I should!

hrm yeah risk of drive failiure probably outweighs loading time gains. I'll use the 2tb drive for what I bought it for - backup!
Actually it was for media storage...but whatever :p
