Is it worth the upgrade?
I dont do much gaming but i am wanting to get into it and sell the 360 :D

Im going to sell my old components after to put towards the fund.

Also what cooler would be good for that CPU for overclocking

Thanks

If its for gaming you coud get a new 3570k z77 bundle for about the same money.
You don't need an i7 unless your using it as a workstation for media editing or something similar.
as for coolers its subjective cost vs noise and oc headroom. What's your budget for it and target speed

I would also looks at a better quality PSU as well, will you be wanting to upgrade your GPU?

Would you say the above mobo and ram is better?

Also with a new i5 thats over my budget, Wont just be using this for games. Also use for photoshop and rendering sometimes.

I will upgrade the GPU as the 9600gt is a bit dated now.
But il probably upgrade that later on. Will this be an issue if i keep it and go with a faster cpu?

Ivy Bridge might have slightly warmer temps, but nothing major. I spec the same coolers for SB & IB CPUs.

Is the 2600 your looking at the K version of non K version, it might be worth looking at my Gigabyte motherboard with a 2600k CPU.

Not always the bigger the better but sometimes.

The Dual tower CPU Coolers like the Noctua NH-D14 are great for overclockers if you thinking of overclocking, if you thinking of keep stock clocks then a £30 CPU cooler will do great Coolmaster V6 and V8 are also amazing coolers even for overclocking but they are a tad expensive for the performance but they look amazing to boot.

I forgot to ask as well, are you after a quiet but super cooling system? As the V6 and V8 have to have around 2000rpm fans to start competing with the Noctua and other Dual Tower coolers so they are very loud, around 45dBA i believe with two fans but the Dual Tower often never break 25dBA as they have bigger, lower RPM fans but they move a lot more heat and air than other fans so always consider that if noise is a problem :)

Thanks will have a look at those.

Well don't want it to be super noisy but am not that bothered.
Currently have a freezer 7 pro and the stock fans in the antec case which is slightly noisy.
So used to it now lol

Yeah you do get use to it. My HD6970 is set to fan speed of 50% and compared to 25% is audible but only when you try to listen for it :) but if sound isn't a problem a twin high RPM solution is great or if you not overclocking a single fan will do excellent as well :)

Oh no problem,

Can you tell me then if its worth upgrading or starting a new build?

I might hold off a while until i can increase my budget. New budget will be around £550
