I currently have Vista on my PC, but a thinking of upgrading to Windows 7.

The Windows Update on my Vista keeps failing to work and upgrading to a X64 bit would free up some RAM too. :) There are a few other reasons why I want to upgrade to Windows 7, but those above are the main ones.

Would it be worth the £75 to upgrade?

I use my PC a lot of the time, and I've recently had to pay £65 to get my system repaired because Windows Update buggered it up. I also lost a lot of my files.

From my perspective and from what most of you guys have said, paying £75 once for a better OS and efficient system in general would be better than having to risk my files and another £65 getting it repaired because Windows Update is ****. I would may increase my RAM to 6GB if I get Windows 7, so I think I will get it.

Thanks for all your advice. :)

So, the fact that you "LOST a lot of your files " is absolutely and 100% YOUR FAULT and not windows update.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude.

Yeah, I never considered backing up my files because I don't have any important ones on there. Most of the important ones did not get lost.

Well if they were not important enough to need backing up then there is no problem with Windows update loosing loads of your files.

They weren't important in the sense that it had important work on it, but it was a pain to loose them. The files lost were things like game editing files, various photos, pictures etc. Not vitally important, but still a pain to loose.
