Worth Upgrading?

Hoping someone can advise. I put my current gaming PC together back in August 2015. I'm wondering whether it's worth upgrading my motherboard and CPU to the new Intel 12 Core i9 10920X and ASUS Intel Core-X PRIME X299 DELUXE II (or similar).

My current CPU and Motherboard are Intel i7 5820k and Asus X99-s. I already have 32GB of fast Corsair DDR4 so I won't need any RAM.

I mainly use my PC for Gaming (GPU is GTX 1080ti) so want to know if I'd benefit if I upgrade.

Full Current Spec is:

Intel i7 5820k
Asus X99-s
Corsair 1200 PSU
EVGA GTX 1080 Ti
32 GB Corsair DDR4 (Quad Channel x8 4GB Sticks)
Samsung Evo 970 1TB M.2
Samsung Evo 850 1TB SSD
Acer Predator 27" 240HZ Monitor

Many thanks in advance.

If it's mainly gaming, then hold off at least another year and see options then. If you stream as well as game then a higher core/thread would be useful.

Cheers, I have been thinking about that too (holding off). My PC plays pretty much everything at max/ultra settings, but wanted to maybe future proof as the new CPU's are out. Not heard too many good things about the new Intel's though and I don't usually go for AMD. I don't stream so I think you are right :)

3rd Gen Ryzen generally seems to be the consensus now if you're building and don't need to go HEDT with things like Threadripper. I've got a 9900k which is a beast for gaming but if I had to buy now I'd also definitely go with a Ryzen chip and I haven't gone AMD since the old Ahtlon V Pentium days.

Honestly though I can't see it being worth it right now for the few frames you're going to gain, maybe drop on a 2080ti but again new cards due to be coming out in summer and a rumoured 2080ti Super possibly coming out in the new year.

Cheers mate, good advice!

Thanks both for your time :)
