Worth using powerline adaptors with existing wireless modem network?

Right, apologies - I am completely new to this sort of stuff.

I'm looking to get a PC rig shortly and I want to connect it to the internet of course. As it is, in my household there is a wireless network running off of a wireless modem. Am I right in thinking that I could use a spare ethernet cable to get a powerline signal to a PC in another room (forgoing the wireless option)? Would this disrupt the existing wireless network or not?

The reason I'm looking at powerline adaptors is because of the supposed speed benefit over wireless, but if I'm being ridiculous and there is another cheaper/more efficient option I should consider please do point it out!

Cheers for your help.

Its certainly possible to do, infact I've just done it myself. Just moved my router downstairs to connect my SkyHD box to it and bought some powerline adaptors to connect my main PC. Also have wireless working for laptops / ipads.

I wanted my main PC to have a wired connection because like you say its more stable and faster in most cases.

Only thing to consider is how old the wiring in your house is and the quality of it as these will effect the speed of the powerline adaptors.
