would a 290 run ok on my system

hi I am going to upgrade my gpu then in a few months upgrade my m/b and cpu but will a 290 run ok on my system specs or should I not bother ?

any help appreciated .

It will run fine. Might not be at 100% performance but even at 90% it will be MUCH faster than your HD5770. You could wait a few more years before upgrading your CPU, Motherboard and Memory to be honest.

Before I changed my mobo/CPU I was running a 965 BE - Not overclocked, so probably about the same power as your overclocked 955 and it wasn't bottlenecked any or anything significant with a Sapphire Tri-x 290x in the games that I play, LoL/Arma(The CPU holds this game back, but that's nothing really do to with the GPU)

Oh and, with adequate cooling which you should have from your CPU cooler you should be able to get way above 3.8

Crysis was fine for me, Battlefield 4 with the new mantle API that has just come out, when it gets ironed out a little it'll be amazing performance for AMD cards, so don't worry about bf4.
