Simple question, friend wants to know, said it in the title :)

So is 550W enough juice to run this?

ide go higher tbh, especially if you plan on overclocking. ive just gone & killed a 620W Corsair in my rig ( i7 @ 3.8, 4 hdds, 4 120mm fans, 1 18w water pump & a GTX285 ), skimping on a psu is never a good idea. :p

Computer says Yes.

That calculator says you need a 482W power supply, and they usually over estimate. That said, if you plan overclocking that CPU I recommend getting at least a 650.

May want to get a DVD drive, unless you already own one ofcourse.

Depends very much on which 550W psu. A cheap one wont (and will die/kill the rest of the computer), a good one should be fine

That setup wouldn't really stress an HX620, just bad luck imo..

I personally would go for a 620/650W so you can add stuff at a later date, a 550W might be running near it's limits (especially if overclocking the i7).

Would you say, as long as he doesn't overclock, the 550W's will be ok? I think he said it was a Huntkey psu - I'm not sure about brands.

Shrinking my sig now :)

Huntley are a budget brand, but a good one if that makes sense :p. Given the chance I'd still get something better TX650 or a HP650 etc.

The one thing I have learnt is always go higher on PSU's to allow for future upgrades. Its the most important component in your PC so don't skimp. Saying that I should have spent a bit more.

Personally I'd get a better PSU. I run a lesser spec than the above off a 750w Corsair - I wanted to make sure there was headroom on wattage and amps and expansion room there for newer parts.

That rig is going to be close to the limits of the PSU......and Huntkey are OK but not a top-tier make.
