Would a firmware update allow for HDMI 2.0?

Hi chaps.
Would a simple firmware update allow a 4K monitor to make use of HDMI 2.0 or is it more hardware based?

(Specifically looking at the Iiyama)

What would you be using the HDMI on a 4K monitor for? Because you can only get the 4K resolution via Display port.

30hz via HDMI 1.4, 60hz via DP 1.2 & HDMI 2.0 @ 4K res?

I would imagine it would require a hardware update also but saying that i could be possible with a firmware update according to some manufacturers.

Im sure next year we will see 4K monitors with HDMI 2.0 but for now i cant see it happening
