Would a M.2 speed up boot times, when I've Photoshop installed?

I'm currently using a Samsung 850 Evo 500GB SSD as my C drive (Windows 10).
Pre installing Photoshop, it's pretty quick at starting up.
But if I install Photoshop, it adds about 20 secs plus to the boot time.
I've noticed this from Windows 7 and up and when installing previous versions of Ps over the years.
Everything that's unnecessary has been prevented from starting when Windows starts up.

Another thing that's slow to start up is Kaspersky Internet Security, protection is enabled at start up, but I always have to wait before I can access the program.

Would I see a noticeable reduction in boot times, AV scan times and general improvements, buying a M.2?
I'm thinking of a 960 Pro 500GB or 960 Evo 500GB.

MoBo is an Asus Z170 Deluxe https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/Z170-DELUXE

Thank you :)

I don't know if a m.2 ssd will help but the first thing I would do is replace your anti virus software. After all the news I wouldn't be using it anymore

I'll carry on using it until some real security experts say otherwise and not rely on what the Government's version of PC World tech support says.
Besides, aren't the UK and overseas Governments spying on us? It's a bit ironic.

I made the exact move you're pondering, and... boot times are quicker, but nothing else is. Can't saturate a 2000mb/s drive with any normal use, including large Photoshop (or Manga Studio) files. Basically it bottlenecks on the cpu instead of the drive.

Also, Photoshop should not inherently add to your boot time... make sure you turn off the guff that Adobe likes to insert into your system startup. I'm running BitDefender AV, and it doesn't seem to add much startup penalty, if any.

Thank you very much for the info.
I've got zero Adobe BS in the Task Manager when I boot up.

I've just done a timed (by watch) comparison of boot up times, between a SSD without Ps installed and one containing Ps.
The non Ps version booted in 14 secs. Samsung 120GB 850 EVO.
The Ps version booted in 53 secs. Samsung 500GB 850 EVO.

The times are from when the MoBo messages disappear to when I can see the Desktop screen containing the icons.

That's really weird... I assumed that Adobe's updater might be kicking off and putting a big pause in there, but if you've put a stop to that nonsense then I'm out of ideas :( It shouldn't be the case that PS slows your boot sequence at all. If you've time and will for it, a clean windows install might be the answer.

Have you run some benchmarks on the drives (think Samsung's drive software includes one) to be sure that there isn't something wrong with the 500gb one? Swapped it to a different sata port? SMART health check?

As a short term fix, I reinstalled the system backup to my main SSD (the 500GB) and reinstalled Ps first, then timed the boot.
It was as quick as it should be, around 13 secs.
Then I installed everything, timing the boot ups as I went. Again everything was as fast as it should be.

The only thing I've done differently now, as opposed to everything I've done over the years with different OS's etc, is install Ps (nearly) first instead of last.

I plan to fresh reinstall Windows when I get chance or whenever it F's up (hopefully I can finish writing this message before it does ;))

Thank you to everyone for your help :)
