Would an SSD help in Lightroom?

I'm a heavy user of Lightroom, currently with 8000 images in it, a lot of hard drive time is generating thumbnails for the images which are small writes but take time on a mechanical RAID, I was wondering if having an SSD just for the OS and Lightroom would improve things at all?

Do you have another drive in addition to the array already?

I found a big improvement by having the Lightroom database etc on a different array to the images themselves.

No, The array is split into 60gb/1.3TB so it's always seeking an awful lot.

In that case another drive of any kind will give you an improvement, whether you want to splash out on an SSD is up to you
