Would changing ISP actually help ?

Hi Dudes.

I'm currently sick to the back teeth with Eclipse.
My internet connection and stability seems to be degrading on a daily basis and I've had enough. I think I'm gonna go ADSL24

But my conundrum is this... surely I'm still going to be using the EXACT same hardware when I connect to my local exchange.
Will anything actually change ??

Cheers

I wasn't really looking tor exacts and numbers :)

Just a general theory about whether changing ISP can lead to better (or worse) results since you are essentially plugged into the same hardware.

But I have found out that this might not be in my case as I was put onto LLU withuot my knowledge and now potentially face a £50 charge to migrate :(

that's no good. you have to get into specifics. i recently left BT because of poor service. becuase i knew my line was good, i knew BT (the isp) were to blame - and switching over to ukfsn (an enta reseller just like adsl24) and all my woes disappeared overnight.

however if you have a crappy line, then switching isps won't fix it. that's what i'm getting at. :)

So I'm currently on BT and sync at about 3.5Mbps. Can't remember my SNR and attenuation figures and my current router won't tell me.. but in theory, is it possible that switching to, say, Be Unlimited 24Mbps would give me higher speeds?

If you have a crap line then it doesn't matter which ADSL ISP you go with. However, you have a better chance of the ISP getting BT to fix the issue if you choose an ISP who knows what they're doing. Zen are likely to escalate issues to people who can actually make a difference, BT Openworld or whatever they call themselves these days are more likely to tell you to endlessly restart your PC and router, delete your temp files, and then tell you that everything's "within spec".

I know my line can be good.
Once.... just once..... just before Eclipse went **** I achieved a download speed of 1.1meg per second for a couple of seconds before it leveled out at about 650kb/s :D
