Would I benefit from having a 2nd Graphics Card

I currently own a GTX295 and run dual monitors from it, a Dell 24" and a 19".

Was wondering would I benefit from having a cheap 2nd card to run the 19" so I could get more power from the 295 for my main.

:D

I don't think you'd notice an improvement. You'd be better off getting another 295 ;).

As an example, my 8500GT drove dual screens. When it just had one screen, there was almost no performance increase at all.

Furthermore, anything you have that is rendered in hardware (including video maybe?) that you watched on the second screen would be rendered on the other card, so you would have to get something that could cope...

I've got an 8800GT driving two 24" 1920x1200 screens, I disabled one screen as an experiment and Crysis benchmark was identical. I had been considering moving the 2nd 24" onto my cheap 2nd card (which drives my 3rd screen), but it seems the impact of the 10MB frame-store (or thereabouts) for the 2nd screen is insignificant.

Question: are you currently experiencing reasons to require additional power? or is it for ****s and giggles?

This to be honest.

Only get another card if you actually need one. If not leave it.

Unless you actually want to spend money, then fair enough, but I'd then spend it on a bigger second screen! :)

I have three monitors connected to my 295gtx which is one of the main reasons I got it. The three outputs.

I have 2x24s 1920x1200 and 30 incher 2560x1600. Run very smooth.

I dont see any point in getting another lower spec card for you.

The only game which would benifit from another 295gtx is probably crysis.

Having a second monitor running makes no difference in performance.

A second GTX295 is an utter waste of money too, one is bad enough.
