Would it be 'foolish' to upgrade to a 480 now?

I would love to look there, but post count requirements are quite harsh for me. Spamming is against my nature.

I solved a similar question as OP. Wanted to move to Vega. Sold my 980Ti (good price and also to get rid of temptation to stay on it).
Spent a while on my ages old 6950. Too slow.
Bought a used 380x to run my freesync monitor. This way performance is just high enough to play and low enough that upgrade to Vega makes sense in 5 months.
 
The 480 is a good upgrade in terms of graphics in a wide range of games, not sure why people are saying otherwise to be honest. Arma3 is CPU intensive and SC run pretty much the same across a wide range of hardware at the moment. Not the best choice of game in terms of judging the need of an upgrade! I would be happy owning a 480 and keeping it for a couple of years before you even think about upgrading again
