Would it be rude....

...and I'd be interested to know which one you keep.
Will let you know tomorrow.
Do you live near OcUK? You could pop in and maybe ask.
I live in Gravesend.
I want to buy one but not sure which one.
If I could find these in shops in London I would go there and view them.
I could order one at the time and send them back if I don't like it. Why pay up to 5 deliveries.( send to me, send back, send to me send back, send to me),

Anyways, thanks for all you comments and thoughts. If they had the Dell 27in I would most likely get that one. But I want to buy from OC. Strange?
James.

not strange reseller loyalty is a big thing. but i wouldnt change my choice of product just because my favorite retailer didnt have what i wanted. then i would definatly go elsewhere or wait untill they get what i wanted.

People might say the retailer loses out by dsr, they don't if anything OCUk probably make more money because of this service I have spent around £1500 with them this year, that's a lot for me and mainly because of their services.
Regards

It's wrong to use DSR the way you want.

It means the retailer has to sell the item then as B-Grade so its costing them money in shipping the item to you and then loosing money by selling it as b-grade.
Or they wouldn't sell either monitor in the first place.
They make a big profit selling you one monitor and then a smaller one selling the other one as 'B-grade' if it's even sold b-grade. DSR requires the monitor to be in perfect shape (no scratches or anything) so it could most likely be sold normally although I do not know if OCUK does that. I have received products that were unpackaged before from other shops however so it's not uncommon to do so.

OK had a chance to view both monitors. I'll be keeping the DGM. The colors seems to be warmer, less clinical than the Hazro. Tried to adjust the brightness on the Hazro. It didn't appear to work. The DGM was not sealed Like the Hazro. Both are nice. The DGM has a different modes. The "Game" really bring out the colors. Backed with OC warranty you can't go wrong.

only xp i have with a dgm was with one of the original OC 24" ones a few years ago it was a nice cheap screen tbh and 1920 x 1200 so from that alone i would get another if i didnt have a u2711 never had a hazro so cant comapre those 2 tbh

It's not rude, it might be inconvenient to the shop but thems the rules when it comes to trading in the UK.

If i understand the law correctly then OcUK would not be permitted to just sell the returned monitor as a new item, it would have to be sold as B-Grade with a reduced price

The DSR is there to allow for mistakes, like you purchase something and then realise when seeing it in person that its not up to your requirements.

Its not there for you to just test drive any piece of kit you feel like without the intention of buying, and in this case the OP did not intent to buy one of the items. Its an abuse of the DSR and its dishonest at best, a contract of sale is just that and you didnt break the contract through error or the need to correct a hasty decision in a cooling off period, you had no intention of purchasing

Any profit made on the sale of the purchased item might be lost on the marking down of the other, I hope in your dishonesty you did not also try and reclaim postage

doesnt make it any less rude or dishonest and if this happens a lot then businesses would have to account for it in their prices, increasing them for everyone

Don't think you can claim for postage on DSR, only if its returned because of a fault.

It's not wrong, the whole purpose of it really is to give people an opportunity to try before they fully commit to a product. In fact, what the OP is doing is pretty much the intention behind the DSR.

The op wouldn't realistically be expect to know exactly what he's buying in to without being able to view and test the products in a "normal" environment.

Also, to me, I don't actually mind if I buy something that's been opened as I would have a full warranty with it anyway. As long as it's in full working order with a full warranty there's really nothing to be concerned about.

Kind of makes a mockery of any stuck pixel rules retailers may try to enforce, if you can just send back under DSR anyway.

£10 return postage and flout the spirit of DSR, or put up with a monitor with x stuck pixels? System open to abuse as this thread indicates.

yeah postage on a large item would be a killer.... some companies do pre test but charge extra that for service but with a monitor or something expensive maybe worth it.

LOL.. Margins lately are pityful in the IT industry especially on things like monitors as the market is flooded with cheap products. More likely the they make small margin on selling you one monitor then break even/make a loss on the other one after refunding postage and selling as b-grade.
