Looking to upgrade and if i do i,ll likely get a ssd, usually i partition my hard drive into 4, would it make a diff to the speed of a ssd if i did the same? is there a diff in speed having the o/s on a ssd rather then using it as a dump drive?
Partitions make no speed differences on ANY drives.
The only thing that ever had an impact on mechanical drives was short stroking them to ensure that data sat on the 'faster' parts of the disk platters.
Install OS/Apps to SSD drive as it comes and that's it. Be done with it, reap the speed benefits. Not partitioning SSD drives is not a drawback, they are plenty fast enough already.
