Would they ever....

Platoon is a good game (although quite hard).

^Well, I think basically what we're saying is that developers should look to the franchise for inspiration rather than blindly following a specific film (Star Wars being a good example of this, it spawned some well received games like Tiefighter, X-Wing, Jedi Knight, KOTOR etc).

I agree that the Terminator franchise could be used better in this regard.

only game i can think of that stayed close to the movie that is good is Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade but a a rule they should use movies as lore to build not as the idea of the game.

i think they are better now than what they were. It used to just be about hashing together some rubbish game and using the film to sell copies - at least they seem to be putting a bit more effort in these days?

Terminator: Future Shock was pretty good from what i remember - got the setting just right - used to scare the bejesus out of me when you could hear the mechanical sound of a Terminator getting closer but had no idea where it was....

While poorly executed - Enter the Matrix was a great concept - actually made up parts of the story you didnt see in the films and stared the actors of the films in the cut scenes - they had the right idea but it didnt quite deliver on gameplay...

Future Shock was an awesome game back in the day. If I remember correctly, it was also the first FPS to force me into using mouse and keyboard controls after being used to keyboard-only through ages of playing Doom and Duke Nukem 3D.

I also thought Terminator : Redemption on the Xbox was pretty decent.

The Lego games (like star wars) do a good job of making a game based on the films. I think they work best because you don't take them too seriously and just have fun (something that is sorely lacking in a lot of games).

Does anyone remember Jurassic Park on the SNES? It would have been awesome except for a ridiculous inability to save :o Unbelievable.

I remember taking my snes over to my mates house and sitting for hours playing it, really annoying like you said with regards to the saving, or lack off.

I agree the lego games work well because they are supposed to be a simple light hearted take on things, if they tried to do a similar game with the proper characters etc it would have blown.

They genuinley need to avoid film plots in games like the black death unless your doing something light hearted and fun

Only issue with the lego games is they are too simple and can't really be played a lot as they are just too boring :/
