Thinking of going i7-

Would the following be any better than the i7 overclocked bundle@4 ghz, and how easy would it be to get better speeds than 4Ghz ?

My systems tend to run 24/7

The overclocked bundle is using a Gigabyte EX58-UD5, which is probably a better motherboard. It also ships with a better CPU cooler.

I can't get that RAM to run at 1900mhz on my P6T, and digging through the memory QVL reveals that the board is fussy about high-speed RAM.

Getting to 4ghz should be easy, but 4ghz+ is going to be very hot even if you get there.

So the answer is....no, it's not better.

Cheers, it's always a difficult one when the specs look better on other products, I guess they choose the ones they use for a reason

Thanks for the advice :)

Does everyone else agree??

Well i've been seeing a few threads on here recently saying they've been getting uncomfortably high temps with this bundle which has put me off it a bit. One person had to replace the Titan fenrir cooler with a Coolermaster V8 to get better temps. I don't know though to be honest, i can't imagine a reputable company like overclockers selling this bundle if it didn't work within the safe operating temps.

my mate has an i7 DO at 4ghz on water and a silverstone TJ07 case and his idles are sometimes 40c lol

these things run a lot hotter that people think tbh

i think the i5s will be a lot cooler but not as fast as these chips

but tbh i think your temps have a huge difference depending on a combination of your case cooling and ambient room temps tbh.

my Q6600 sits at 38c atm in winter 30c and relli hot summer days 44c:(

thats why i have knocked it back down to 3.33 from 3.51 might even knock it back to 3ghz

but things always work out a lil cheaper than bundled stuff unless its case and PSU

you just get the choice of picking the exact things you want when buying seperate

where does it say these bundles are safe? There garunted to run at 4.0Ghz that all. The puropse of them it seems is for those who dont have the knowledge or just dont want to fiddle in the bios. IMO 10-15+ that have had problems seem to be running around trying to get them at 4.0 which defeats the point no?

Temperatures are important to me since it is run a lot, and is in a room with a projector.
Getting aircon next week tho

What is the best cooler for 1366?

Noctua NH-U12P SE1366

Prolimatech Megahalems Performance CPU Cooler

Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme CPU Cooler

Titan TTC-NK85TZ Fenrir is used in the budles, they need a budget cooler that works to make money and keep prices lower, Although a good cooler far from the best.
