I bought a used car for my wife at the weekend from a reputable car dealership, the service was brilliant, even to the extent that they walked us round the car and asked us to point out any (reasonable) concerns and they would sort them out.

One issue I raised were a few scratches on the bumper, nothing major but enough to warrant mentioning. It was decided that as they have a body shop on site, they would fix the scratches before collection.

Fast forward to today, a day after picking the car up and it seems they have done a pretty poor job at fixing the scratches. Unfortunately it was raining when we picked up the car so much less noticeable than today when it is dry:

It's quite hard to tell from the pictures compared to in person but safe to say, it looks like they just quickly sanded and sprayed with whatever silver paint they had in the bodyshop. I could have done that myself in 5 minutes. Now, I appreciate that it is a 6 year old car and they did this due to me highlighting the original scratches, but I had hoped for a much better job.

Would you complain?

Looking again I see the blob now. Wow! That is shocking.

Take it back ASAP.

After looking at it again, I can't actually work out if they have repsrayed it poorly or simply buffed it so much that it has worn off all the clearcoat.

Anyway, I'm glad that I'm not the only one that thinks it is a pretty poor job. Considering they have a bodyshop on site, not just for the cars they are selling but also for anyone wishing to get work done, I am surprised at what a feeble attempt they have done.

Body shop on site= valet guy with the wrong shade silver spray can. A spray can that has been used to touch up so many cars that it has no gas left so he had to use a rag to apply the paint because the bristles on all his paint brushes are rock hard. He then spent an hour wet n drying

Or he ran out of the wrong shade so he only sprayed the scratches. That's what it looks like.
A proper shop would have sprayed half the bumper at a minimum

I think you're right, it looks like burn through to me. Get it back to them and demand it's fixed properly :)

Looks like it has been buffed\sanded to much from the first pic.

It could also be t-cut that he put on and never bothered cleaning, maybe?

Whatever it is, it needs to go back.
