Would you consider this a cheap tactic?

Seems more and more in tf2 on 2fort im seeing a demoman somehow get outside our main spawn area and demo charge the crap out of the place often backed up with soldiers and medics or heavys and medics. In that kind of situation your teams backed into a corner and really can't do much, there is the other spawn point but most times everyone will stick to the class they were playing and with that kind of an attack going on snipers and engineers are pretty useless against rocket spamming soldiers with a medic attached to the hip.

Any counterattack from your other spawn point has to either come in along the sniper balcony leaving you open to snipers, or along the tunel area, either way when you get to the main spawn both sides have narrow openings leaving the soldiers with pretty easy kills considering the splash damage of the rockets and the confined space.


Ive asked people about this and the generic response i seem to get is "it works", yeah so does downloading a hack and ruining the game for one team, this tactic is about as annoying when theres not much you can do trapped in a small room =/

just pyro rush them.

or standnext to the heath locker and spam em back , you dont need to reload that way.

The word team is in the name for a reason.

Pyro rushing wont work, soon as the doors opened you're either getting blown apart by demo charges or rocket spam\minigun spam =/

your all on full health just wait till your all together then rush them, even if you had the exactly the same number/type of class you would win due to health differences or standing next to the heath station while someone opens the door.

Well everythig ive seen so far has failed against this, most likely due to pubs not being exactly outstanding for teamplay =/
 
I play Demo / Soldier a lot and Ive never seen a team completely trapped inside their spawn :\

I guess if there were 4-5 of us who wanted to keep people in there it might work for a short while but it doesnt take much to break through.

The only problem comes when people are retards and stick to playing classes like Snipers/Engineers/Spys. These classes are no good to anyone in this situation.

All you really need is 1 person whos willing to go medic and someone who can help him build an uber. Just stand there shooting the resupply locker till youve got an uber and then switch to HW and open the door :) can even go out as pyro if you want maximum mayhem :P youll soon see the crowds outside the spawn scatter

I often put pipes by the spawn door but I never stick around to do it more than once or twice. This is mostly because as soon as they know youre there, they start getting smart to it but its also because Im only in their base to get the intelligence. If you can keep them in there then thats good because it makes it easier to get the intel but ultimately, you only need to keep them in there whilst the intel is leaving the building. As soon as its out, you dont need to be there :)
 
As Cr0fty said, if everything else fails get a medic or two to charge for uber in the back of the spawn room, run out and blast those fools :)
 
Same thing happens on the first map of dustbowl. Played last night against a team who turreted up two of the doors and then just rocket & minigun spammed the other door.

Yes its a tactic that works, but from experience it only seems to annoy people if they are on the receiving end.
 
On a public server it is a bit cheap as ruins the enjoyment for everyone. Think i'd get pretty bored just killing people as they left a spawn where's the fun in that :/ Unless ** idea of fun is 'winning' of course.
 
have someone stood beside the door to open it.. and then rocket spam at anyone in view while stood next to the health dispenser ... also if a spy can make it out they can backstab a medic or a heavy making it much easier ... pyro's are also good for breaking up their plans.. although the medic needs to die first as the pyro is **** tbh if the other team has a medic and an iq above that of your standard public player (the sniper)

my favourite is setting up a sentry gun in the doorway of the small room opposite the spawn, you sit round the corner with your dispenser and wack it with ** hammer.... if you can get a couple of upgrades without anyone noticing your golden :D
 
Seen this a few times. Nothing a bit of teamwork won't solve. Actually Spy can be useful to get rid of the demoman or medic here first.
 
Its always the bad players that whine and complain until the decent players change how they play :\
