a steak pie that has a best before date of 24th dec. bought on the 23rd then frozen, defrosted last night in the fridge, but back in the freezer now as nobody wants it

it says not to re-freeze once defrosted but I don't see any reason why not as it wasn't frozen when I bought it

plan to defrost it again and cook it in a week or something

would you?

It says don;t refreeze as the bascteria in it will have multiplied while it was defrosting. After hibernating in the cold, they surge in their growth. So you will have a lot lot more than you had originally after defrosting it a second time. Personally, I would bin it.

why put it back in the freezer that was dumb - you could have just cooked it

it would probably be fine anyway, eat it raw and play pie roulette with it

Iv been drinking milk in my tea that's 3 days out of date, and that comes out of a cows udder

If anything it makes you more of a man

So long as it was defrosted in the fridge it should be fine. If you let it get to room temperature then it should have been cooked before refreezing.

I'd probably eat it myself.

Don't eat it mate, never worth it.

If you've ever had proper food poisoning you know never to risk it. Me and the missus got full on food poisoning from a local Chinese takeaway....... worst few days of my life that was.

It'll be fine. The shelf life of products is actually higher then what is printed on the label.

If you read OP original post he said he'd defrosted it, then refrozen it............. that's a BIG no no!
