Would you get your spanners out?

forced induction+naturally aspirated compression ratios= engine grenade?

By all accounts as the MX5 1.8 engine is basically a turbo engine without the turbo you are ok up to about 250 bhp without internal work. I shouldn't be getting near that with the set up I'm using.

I was just about to go into war and peace about attempting something quite so daunting on your first go and was smply going to remind you a thing about aftermarket parts

NOTHING EVER FITS.... EVER..

But I see you (or actually and more luckily the garage) has just found that out.

Good luck with getting it finished, just one word of advice, don't get hung up on "it's supposed to be finished today" because that date will never arrive.
Just keep at it, overcome each issue as you find it (there will be more) and eventually, if you have the right people working on your car you will eventually get something back that you can go hoon in. :D

Funny you say that....got another call today.

The wideband had turned up so they'd gone back to stripping the electrics out from the kit so it was ready to do the ECU which turned up @ 5pm today. The injector connections aren't standard, they have some weird custom connection on them from the supercard...

He was just going to snip the wires off the supercard and splice them into the loom, but then had the realisation that if i was sending it all back they would probably get upset about bare wires hanging off the card.

Quick call to my importer who thought about it for a couple of mins and just said "Whatever happens with Kraftwerks you'll get money back from all this, even if we have to take the hit, so just use the connectors off the supercard."

So for the 2nd week running i'll be going for an interview with nothing else on my mind but "Will i be driving home via most of Northumberland?" He seemed fairly confident that it should be done though.

I didt know that. What is the standard power output? 120bhp?

140bhp in the book.

The claimed result from the kit is 190 at the wheels, i don't know what the transmission losses are, but if you say 16% then that's 225 at the crank.

Yes, yes i would get the spanners out :) I shall be watching this one with interest. The mx5 was literally made to do mad stuff to, didn't some fella on here have a utterly mad charged mx5?

You missed the update! I left the spanners in the toolbox, earned some more money doing what i know how to do, which is building spreadsheets not cars, and got some people with FI MX5 experience to do it, luckily for me...
