Would you mod a supercar?

thats like saying a 205 GTi isnt a hot hatch when compared to a Focus RS MKII

different eras and different levels of performance/market intention.

back on topic.

this is a JDM styled F40

does a car hit an age/status level where it is sinful to modify it, or is it more the marque that should be considered 'off limits'

I actually really like that!

Hi there

Looks wise - NEVER!
Its a reason I've not touched the 911, the manufacturers typically get it so right. Ferrari, Lambo or even down to specifics Audi R8 or Nissan GTR, I'd not touch the way they look.

Power / Handling / Brakes wise, then yes of course because things can normally always be improved to suit a particular owners requirements.

One can never have enough power. ;)

This

Yes I would modify it where possible to remove some of the "compromises" that the manufacturer built in to get it to interest a broader scope of people.

Exterior/Interior. No as it would wreck the resale value and rightly so. As for under the bonnet and all the other unseen stuff? Maybe...

That 458 is utterly appalling by the way.

I was about to say no, however the 458 in the OP would be the exception. It looks like a GT2/GT3 car for the road

It doesn't though - GT2/3 cars don't have ruined suspension. 'Stance Yo!!1!' a VW Golf if you must, but a Ferrari? Please nooooooo. It's destroyed :(

Your car, do what you want with it.

Want to mod something? Do it.

Said owners should not care less what fanboys and fangirls think about modding a car they do not own and have zero say in the matter.

probably wouldn't buy a modded car such as those although then white lambo no.00 looks really nice.

i think if some people were stinking rich then they would want something different.

I'd have 30" spinnerz, 3x8" exhausts (pentagonal) with holes drilled to make it louder, mirror effect tinting...but on the inside so i don't have to look at the poor folk (would use cameras to see where I'm going), I'd drill the air box, blow up dolls for airbags...

lol ok I'll stop there xD If I ever some how managed to get a supercar I'd probably not touch the thing and enjoy it as the designers/engineers intended :) anything done would be very minimal.

Interesting concept just thought of, you can get body kits to make cars look like super cars e.g. Ferrari kit for toyota mr2 (old one).... what about normal body kits for super cars xD kinda like super sleepers hehe would be interesting to see what combinations would be possible to fit... obviously most supercars are on the larger side so would look a bit silly getting an oversized fiesta kit to fit on a Lambo xD ...never know though haha!

Depends on the car tbh.

For example, I love the Porsche Carrera GT Gemballa Mirage Edition.

On the other hand, something like a BMW M3 (Not in the same league obviously) is a car I would dream to mod, both performance and styling (subtle).

Cars such as a Buggati Veyron or McLaren F1.. Wouldn't even dare.

Yet Flemke off Pistonheads has quite extensively modified his F1 and the car is all the better for it.

Plus it isn't uncommon for owners to fit the F1 LM inspired aero kit to non LM cars.

Retarded concept, not interesting.#

You would have to be bat **** mental to want your Ferrari to look like a mondeo.

lolz for all the wrong reasons imho, only curveball i can think is taking a wrecked supercar and using the engine in another body, aka the F355 french van.

Does this not just come down to 'Would you mod a ...car?'

If you have the money why not - who cares if it devalues your 458 or whatever if you have the money to not worry.
Taste is different as you may not agree with how everyone decides to do it but still.

End of the day I prefer someone who mods and uses a car over someone who keeps it in a garage for its entire life never driving it.
